Then, on the other hand, the Chicken stool will be good for guys like Bob Holland, fertilizer spreader. That is more like natural fertilizer.

As for the crime, it is already here in West Clay. If Corning police would take their meth sniffing dog to the roadblocks, half the hard working people in Corning would be incarcerated.
Then, who would carry the load here?

Corning is supposed to only have 40 to 50 new jobs and Pocahontas will have 300. Pocahontas will always trump Corning on just about anything. The mill in Corning will stink too and it will be located just north of town.

We need to let them know how we feel about this.
It is the people in the country who will have to live with the smell, polluted well water, streams, and have our property devalued. No one wants to buy property next to chicken houses.
If this the best they can do with getting us jobs we need to elect some new people.
Talk to people who have worked in processing plants. Those places are cold all the time and everyone comes out with health problems.
The people who live in the country should be allowed to vote on this.
If you agree write to the Star Herald.

That,s exactly what I did. And Im very happy with my decision. I went out in the back and killed a deer within 300 ft of my house this morning. Young doe it will be good eating. Where Im at there isn't a great influx of non resident hunters. In Randolph county you all get everyone from the flat lands & from Jonesboro & Memphis. I don't miss the slob hunters & idiots riding their four wheelers on the Randolph county public roads. They start shooting the day before season to practice and scare all the game away from their normal routine. I grew up in Randolph county. I became disgusted with the corruption, Misfeasence ,Malfeasance,, nonfeasance and fiscal irresponsibility of the so called leaders & elected officials.

Desperate town takes desperate measures, this will not be good for corning for the long haul. Quality of life goes down for residents, unattractive to other companies looking to locate here. People actually move away from these places,l know there is pressure to get some type of jobs here, sometimes it's better to just pass.

seems 50 jobs and a feed mill wouldn't be that bad for corning. what makes it unattractive?

Really, ponder this: As earlier reported in this post: To have a Chicken processing plant and a feed plant, there has to be CHICKEN HOUSES to supply the Chickens for them!

Since Corning is at rock bottom as far as new business is concerned, Bring on the Chickens.

By putting a Chicken house just south of Mark Woods off hwy 67, this whole town will get that odor. Then, when people ask, "What is that pungent odor?" You can simply say, "MONEY"!

If we are lucky enough to miss out on the chicken houses,a feed mill itself puts out an odor, check with a real estate company and see what happens to property values. Not attractive for other businesses to come to a stinky town.

Feed mills put out bad smells. This is bad for Corning. They are putting it here because nobody else wants it. The bottom of the pile again.

Some complain if there are no jobs. Others complain if we get jobs. Apple Google or hi tech aren't coming here. Peco is a good company. Ask Batesville Newark or their website.

Yes, Guest, you are right. But, if we don't get something in here, the town will wither away!

The mayor demands a 30% increase in pay per year(new house and all). Corning is not profiled to pay that much with the current tax structure!

Getting any new business in here will keep the mayor on Kipper Lane drinking bottled water.

Isn't that what we all want? We must have wanted that 1% sales tax! Most of the people in Corning didn't know when that voting took place. It only passed by less than 30 votes!

If we can't make it to the polls, lets get ready for many things we don't like!!

Ya Sure Peco is a good company ? Just where have you stuck you head in lately?
Peco has a history of using illegal mexicans and of OSHA violations.
They have also screwed their chicken farmers over before.

Arkansas Business reported this yesterday. They have an option on 200 acres north of Corning. They will initially employ 40 and have a maximum employment of 50. Chicken feed plants do have a foul smell too.
Chicken processing plants have a fowl oder. and it will permeate the area. probably change the ethnic population in Shannon.

Yo, Just saying, If that feed plant goes in just north of the old Hart furniture building, there will be little odor for Corning people.

Our winds are mostly out of the southwest. Those in line for the odor are Ben Williams, Colon Carpenter, and Danny Holifield.

Let's face it: Prosperity has it's price!

It is going to be an ugly picture if the Highway 67 project is ever done--that may be in the area of the project. Not good for Corning!

The only ones still here are the ones who can't afford to leave!

Everyone who has left here and moved to P.B. or Paragould found that were several jobs to choose from and the utilities were reasonable and the water was drinkable!!!

It is like the high priced, undrinkable water in Corning is the final straw. You can only put so much on these poor people!!
