To the people on Heather Lane, please keep your dogs and cats home where they belong. There is a leash law in Pocahontas,if you do not have a fenced in yard you need to to take your dogs out on a leash, not open the door and let them out to run all over the neighborhood using everyones' yard for a bathroom. Nobody wants to clean up after your pet.If you have cats they need to be kept inside where they belong, not running around scratching the paint on other peoples cars. I hate to do it but if this problem is not rectified, animal control will be notified. When you have to bail your pets out of the pound enough times maybe you will start taking proper care of them..

It's a problem out of town also. I don't know of any legal recourse out here though.

I don't know why some people even have pets,no matter where you live they need to be kept in your own house or yard, not running all over the place bothering other people. Some people have no respect for others.

Why do people even get pets if they are not going to keep them at home where they belong? Do you let your kids roam all over the place bothering other people too?

The Arkansas Law states that a landowner has the right to destroy dogs running at large if they are about to harrass all classed of livestock or poultry. They dont have to be harrassing just about to. In other words it is legal to kill tresspassing dogs.

It it's not the dogs fault is their owner who should be keeping their dogs and cats at home..

I don't have any animals. My neighbors dogs crap all over my driveway and yard (even on my porch, now and then). He should be required to keep them off my property.

Actually the dog has got to be in the process of attacking the livestock, you can not shoot someones dog for what you think he might be planning to do,you can not shoot a dog for coming onto your property or you will be arrested.

ABOUT TO. If a dog comes on my land and a chicken gets sacred that is enough. And your completely wrong all the livestock owner has to believe or think the dog is ABOUT TO or planning to harrass livestock. If the owner thinks a dog is ABOUT TO they can kill the offending animal. That is the exact wording of the LAW ABOUT TO however dont take my word. Go to the library at the black River Vo tech. They have a current set of up to date law books. It called the Arkansas code annotated. The fact is if you keep your dogs & cats on your own land they will come to no harm. A responsible pet owner does not let their pets run at large and trespass on the property of others.

get a pet chicken or rabbit put it in a secure cage in your yard. when the dogs try to get your pet kill them. You can do whats necessary or just let it be its your choice.

yes its not the dogs fault. but thats not the real issue. The real issue is the harm being done by dogs & cats running at large. the one fact that is for shure if the offending animal is killed it never does that no more times.

I do not understand why people let their animals run loose all over the place. Nobody should have to clean up after someone elses pet, that is unacceptable behavior on the pet owners part. Keep your pets at home where they belong,if you are walking your dog, keep him/her out of other peoples yards,it is called RESPONSIBILTY,do you even know the meaning of the word. Nobody has respect for other peoples property any more. When you walk your dog it is also the law that you clean up any mess your dog has made,DO NOT leave it laying there, that is DISGUSTING and UNHEALTHY.

It is an all too common problem. I have both dogs and cats. My two cats are not allowed outside and when my dogs are outside they are secured in my backyard. I have a neighbor though with several dogs they just let roam. The dogs are very sweet and don't harm anyone or anything, but they go out begging and running amok. I do not blame the dogs nor do I wish to shoot them, but it is hard not to beat some sense into the owners! I love my animals and I will be damned if they will be out of my sight!

Your chicken is in a cage,it sounds like a 2500 dollar chicken to me,you have a misunderstanding of the law,try it it will only cost you $2500 plus att.fees.
