So you are implying layoffs are inevitable? It sounds like you are saying the administration is basically unable to stop the decline of the hospital. What would you do if it was your business?

God help us if our hospital closes. I KNOW they have saved numerous lives. I do agree with some staffing issues that could have been changed. I don't feel that it should have all been in the medical end. Why were there no cuts in the business office ? It seems that staff is safe. Before anyone insults me, I have medical insurance and pay my bills. I have some college but I do well for myself but I have seen hard times also. I for one am praying we don't lose our hospital.
I agree the hospital has saved many lives. Do you know for sure that the business office didn't have any cuts? If so, is it because they had already been cut earlier and to cut more would be detrimental to operations of the hospital? Each department has a minimum necessary to run efficiently. Maybe they are already there. My understanding is the previous CEO allowed extra staff for the medical side and so that is where the cuts had to occur this time. It is sad situation. They continue to try to add new services ( pool in PT, wound care, heart caths) and yet the community doesn't support them for basic care ( or so I assume since they have had a lay off). IF the community doesn't go there for basic care will they trust for specialized care? The administration there has a huge responsibility and have had to make some very difficult decisions. Personally, I am healthy and have not had any need for hospital care but I know as the years go by that might not always be the case and I just hope our community still has a hospital when I get to the age to need them. I have friends that work there and each of them have their own opinions about what should be, could be done differently. Not to mention all the rumors and stories I have heard and read. I hope someone finds the answer soon.

What it comes down to is that it costs a small fortune to run a hospital. One problem is that the ER can't really turn anyone away, and if the patient has no insurance, they pretty much have to eat that cost. Furthermore, Medicare has certain guidelines that must be followed in order for them to pay for services. If they aren't followed exactly, or if a patient develops a secondary infection while patient is in hospital, they won't pay. These and many other things added together have caused this pro lem. It isn't administration alone. So many factors.

I sure hope that I have this LOCAL facility to go to if I am ever faced with needing life-saving emergency care!! And I sure hope that if I have to be in the hospital for any length of time, that I can remain here, close to friends and family, surrounded by those that I know and trust. It is for those reasons that I DO support our local hospital and encourage others to do so also. Any time I hear of someone that has a complaint, I advise them to follow the chain of command and let the hospital know, so they can make necessary improvements. It does no good for people to just complain on here, spread around negative talk, or to try to get the hospital closed. We need a hospital in this community both for employment reasons and for the ability to provide medical services to our community. I am praying that it can remain a strong and viable facility. Pray that good decisions can be made by everyone.

It does cost a lot to run a hospital. However, you are only partially correct about the ER not turning anyone away. The law states that every person seeking medical care must be given an examination to determine if a medical emergency exists. If NO emergency condition is present then the hospital can ask for money or make a payment plan before any further care is given. If there is a medical emergency condition then care can not be postponed or eliminated because of a lack of money or insurance. There are many factors that have caused the lay off. But the biggest one I have heard is that the hospital is not busy enough to continue to employee as many people as they once did. If the people of the community think the hospital will always be there no matter what they need to look at communities like Corning and Hardy area both had hospitals and both had hospitals close. It can happen. Medicare feels most secondary infections are caused by staff deviating from the standard of care. So they have stopped paying for the treatment of those infections. And that can be added expense for the hospital to cover. The lesson there is wash your hands/use hand gel. The public needs to insist upon the doctors and nurses doing that before they are touched by a care giver. I pray FRMC is amazed by the rally of support and their financial issues are eased soon.

I have been in the medical field for years, and what wrong with most small hospital is that send all patients to a bigger hospital. Now thatthe goverment is cutting payment to medical places, and that are trying to cut more medicare and people social sec. checks that had work for years to put in the system. Then you got these people thats use the ER room for a Dr. Office. Once again the income for the medical field has decrease and the out going exspense has increase on everthing. Now how can bussiness can that a float. People of Randolph co. need to ask you're Dr. to do all youre testing and admited you to FRMC. Last thing in courage you/re Dr to be A DR and treated. Now that Dr Regan going no one want to see their patient i n the hospital, its take up to much time and they get very little pay to see a inpatient.

the hospital is in bad shape. as far as admitting a patient, you have to meet certain guild lines or insurance will not pay. when people go to the ER or their pcp they have to send them to a hospital that offers the service for their medical needs. our hospital offers little to none as far as surgery goes. that's why there's so many transfers.

Yes, they had a cath lab. However, if there was any reason whatsoever to believe your situation would become emergent during the procedure, they would have scheduled you near a large hospital with cardiac facilties. A heart cath is very serious and could have life-threatening complications. If something had gone wrong here, they would have had to transport you to Jonesboro. That's why they weren't getting much business there.

This hospital has never been able to gain support from the ppl,its nothing but a dead expence for the ppl in this county,it has not ever been able to support itself, close it,we cant support it any longer,N.E.Arkansas is going down hill quickly,Obama will finish of this place just as Democrats have been doing for years, you can kiss you're property good by,the only thing keeping it alive is ppl getting older and moving off the farm to town but now they are moving on to jonesboro, the only thing holding this place up is goverment money and its not going to do it any longer,at least for much longer i for one wish i had my money i have invested in what i do own here, anyone want to buy a house?

This is true but if the hospital goes the poky goes also, its not likey that we will get an industry to replace the one's we have lost, but without a hospital there will be none, you can write this on the wall,of course The new health plan will close small hospitals anyway the only thing that will be in the future is clinical care, but no hospital in a place this size.
