Why doesnt pocahontas softball select all stars after league play and play in district tournament with chance to go to state and represent the city of pocahontas?

it is hard enough to get parents to bring there kids to the games in the summer time.because of the kids going to there dads or moms, church camp,or regular camp and going on trips for the summer with the parents. thats why the softball asso tries to have the league play over by the time school is out. but with the rain and whatnot its hard to do. i wish we could play a lot more than we do. but its hard to keep a team full or enough kids to play.when school is out for the summer they scatter.

Are you saying its girls that scatter or Pocahonts girls that scatter. Seems like Pocahontas baseball assoc. is capable. Due they start earlier? I just find it hard to believe league coaches couldnt pik the 12-15 best players and compete for the city. There's gotta be something more to this.

it has been tried and failed most of the leagues didnt even have a post tournament because of not being able to fill teams.if you want to get a team up go for it there is travelin teams already made up of alot of the best players from the league of all age groups.im with you on this im just tellin you why the softball asso does not do this. also you would have to find some coaches that would be willing to put the time in a team that it takes.

I agree having been a past coach, it is hard enough getting the kids to regular games and then when a coach spends all his summer coaching while all the other parents are out enjoying vacation and when they are done, they want to come to town now they are free and kick back in the shade and watch their kids play some more ball. When you ask for cash for assistance or help from the parents watch them get lock jaw.

It all boils down to the one that really wants to see it happen, just stepping up and doing it. Find like-minded parents and kids that will commit to an all-star or traveling team. The softball association does a lot of work for the regular season, and some parents, kids, coaches are just more committed than others....there is no right or wrong in it, just preferences and priorities and time/money constraints. For some, regular season is enough and presents enough of a struggle for some families to be involved. For others, they may want to be more involved and play all summer. We are very fortunate to have good dedicated people on the softball association, as well as the baseball association.
