Like what? Like how that place is draining the medicaid system? Like how the fired employees end up dead in a car wreck when they leave there? How guns are being smuggled in there? How much of a joke that place is? How the owner of it has his hands in the gov's pocket? How the mafia in Chicago has a hand it? I'm not making this up, wish I wish. They are a disgrace to Randolph County. There are some good people working there, but they are just following the rules for a paycheck. Just google it, you will get tons of hits.

I googled it, but everything leads back to 2006...I need to know how it is now- couldn't find much updated stuff as to how they treat the kids and teens...

Its about a place that works the system, making millions by taking in kids in trouble. And yes it is helping break medicaid. The Dental Clinic in Jonesboro takes care of most of the "kids" teeth. Old Bud has grown rich farming the government, they have bought lots of land. Drive out through there and look, the road is still public even if Bud says different. Sure blows the hell out of the seperation of "church and state rules". Find another "school" that draws federal money and has the god theme in it.

Aside from breaking medicaid, is it a place that a troubled child can actually benefit from? Does anyone know first hand how the school is run?

i do alot of people tells rumors about it but it not true. i know for sure. they help troubled teens to find the lord and to change for the good. it is a christian place. the schooling is by the grade and transstricps that they had in the past. the place teaches disapline and repect and show kids that going to the lord is not bad. they are alot better than most other faclities. there is no guns getting smuggled in. or anyhting like that.

Can someone just tell me if the place is good for kids? I have a 15 year old who is extremely smart but is going through depression, and wants to get away for awhile. I need some help on this place!

sounds like you might need to find a good bible base church family... that have a lot to do with teenagers.the lords ranch wouldn't be the first thing i would do, but your the one living it not me. good luck with what ever you decide to do.

Well, for depression I dont think it would be my first choice. This is a facility for children who have ran away, gang related children, and abusive children. I'm not saying they couldn't help but I know that is the group that is a part of thier main focus. It might not be a bad idea to join a church or a group that has alot of youth related involvement and activities.

I have worked at the Lord's Ranch and loved it. The people and the atmosphere is wonderful but it is for troubled children. They give them love and clothe and feed them along with school and last but most importantly centered around and all about God. The people who are talking haven't a clue except for hearsay...I know first hand and Bud, Shirley, Ted, and all the counselors and teachers are doing the works of God. Some of these children's parents don't give a darn about them and these people have gave up their own home to house them and provide even Christmas for them...which they otherwise wouldn't of received. They are strick and have rules to go by but the kids are not there because of good behavior...a lot of them are court ordered with pitiful living conditions before they arrive.

Your child needs professional counseling and perhaps medication for a little while from an MD trained in children's mental health. She IMO doesn't need a facility designed to help kids with behavioral problems. She might even come out WORSE.Speak with a trusted physician or your health department, preferably a pediatrician.

My mother worked there. Do not send your child there. I know several people that worked there and it is nothing but trouble. If your child needs help try contacting a local church. The kids there have major problems and would probably end up influencing your child to the point of him having worse problems.

She needs that, also. However, you do medical conditions/facts a great disservice, else, you are just ignorant of them if you think that church is all it takes to overcome an actual PHYSICAL condition such as depression that has been well documented to originate from chemical imbalances in the brain.
Don't talk about something if you don't know what you're talking about. This is akin to Christian Science that refuse medical treatments for real conditions.Teenagers that have suffered from untreated depression have committed suicide.
Get some medical knowledge before you give such advice.Sounds to me as if you WORK at the Lord's Ranch, may even OWN it.Else you wouldn't be promoting church as a cure-all for actual medical problems.

I don't work for a doctor.I've been a nurse 37 years and have dealt with mental health issues in adults and children both.

And I dont' mean to sound mean, but,YOU sound like an ignorant backwoods hillbilly snakehandler with your stupid logic that could cost a young person's life,or anyone else.

I personally believe God healed me from cancer, but,He also provided DOCTORS and NURSES and MEDICINE to do it with.God gifts people with medical knowledge in order to do His will.Sickness is a fact since the fall of man, and,God knows it and is perfectly able to work through others to do His will and good purpose.
How does THAT sound?! Pick up your Bible and read how He causes all things to work for His divine will, including medicine.
