I find it interesting that Guest says the hospital is what it has always been, ran by poorly trained people. According to topix posts there are mentions of several changes in the people that "run" the hospital. In the last 6 years there has been a change in ownership & changes in the management style. From a company hired to manage which put 2 different CEOs in office then to local management which has had 2 different CEOs in office. Statistically it should be impossible that all of those people are poor managers. I am sure each of them have had to make some unpopular decisions and maybe decisions that the public wouldn't understand because we don't have the same information ( finance, government regulation requirements) that the person in charge knows about. I personally have not had a need to be at the hospital in several years so I am not speaking from personal experience simply from the logical stance of a situation.

Just had an experience with a family member of mine at 5 Rivers. I have nothing but good to say about the care given there. The person was very near death and Dr. Reagan is the greatest. He stayed by her side till long after time for him to go home. We considered moving her to Jonesboro, but know that she would never have got the indivual attention that she was given here. The staff was above and beyond and very much appreciated by our family. If you don't like it go somewhere else but to say it needs closed is plain stupid. Keep up the good work and know that you are appreciated.

So glad to hear Dr Reagan is still there. He cared for my father in law a few years ago and he went above and beyond to be sure he was well cared for and our family understood everything about his condition. He is one of the most compassionate, dedicated physicians I have ever met.
for sure

Dr. Ragan is planning to leave the hospital very soon. What will become of the hospital then? I am sure that all of the newly added equipment cannot mmake up for losing one of the most compassionate, dedicated physicians who has went well above the call of duty for many people and management has no idea--
Management, well thats another story--won't even go there today.

I total agree!!! Myself and family will miss Dr. Ragan so much! Heck, who knows he might run for MAYOR of Pocahontas someday and knowing that he would win by an land slide!!!!!!!!!!

His leaving is like a big empty spot in Randolph County. God created a great man! Thank you sir for everything you have done. Again thank you!

They need to change the hospital name from Five River Medical to RAGAN MEDICAL CENTER.

Perhaps we should change the name of this town to Doomsday, Ar?? All I hear from most of the people that participate here, is gloom and doom.
Does anyone ever think of ways to improve, support and nurture their community??
Apparently not.

I have first hand, witnessed the ER at work, they have stabilized heart patients and transferred them to Jonesboro to be cared for by the Cardiologists. Without that support, this patient would have died!

So.....lighten up, see a problem?? Fix it or report it!

Took my niece there a few nights back and they are such quacks. They told me a fever in an infant was not considered a fever till it was at 105 that is BULL. A fever is a fever in an infant when it's 102. She was running over 104 and they were trying to find an infection so they were doing all kinds of test. They didn't even ask about the rash she had, turns out she had scarlatina. Her shots did that to her and they were so stupid had no clue what they were doing. The doctor looked in her ear and said oh that one looks like straw. DUMB as heck if you ask me. They should close all they are is a band aid station.
all scarlatina is is high fever rash it doesn't cause the fever so they were probably trying to find the cause of the fever

all you hear on topix is someone running pocahontas down. As the old saying goes if you don't like the way things are then do something about it. Bend over pull up your bootstraps and get off your duff and volunteer to help instead of setting and waiting for someone else to do things or complain about it, No! your proably to lazy to help your self. I was one of the patients at 5 rivers I couldn't have ask for better care in the ER also being admitted I'm just happy I had a place to get the care I needed. I know my family was happy with the Drs. & nurses If they couldn't have handle my problem I know they would have sent me to where I could have gotten the care I needed.
