Teacher must be a non traditional and not all non traditionals are bad teachers. Let me ask you this can I go to school to be a teacher and take a 2 year once month class and become a Doctor? This school distric is not in a shortage area and we have no problems finding BSE teachers so why do we settle for less?

If I were the Chesters I would take all focus off the whole non traditional thing too. That's an issue they will lose on every time.

So teaching is not in the "real" world? Could it be that some people decide later in life that their true calling is to educate children? There us nothing wrong with that. If it is so easy to become a teacher why doesn't everybody do it? "Really", I am gonna bet that you have had more than one job. I guess that means you are a failure as well ? There is absolutely nothing wrong with the nontraditional program that the ADE has put in place. When you think about the training a traditional teacher and a nontraditional teacher receives, there is not much difference , if any. A traditional student takes two years of basics and two years of classes within the education program. A nontraditional teacher receives a four year bachelors degree and completes an extensive two year program . No need to take the basics again. They have to pass the same exams as a traditional teacher. So it's not as easy as you think . You might want to do a little research on the nontraditional program before you start bad mouthing it.

Truth, you are not comparing apples to apples . It takes a student four years of college to become a teacher. Can you be a doctor in four years? I don't think so. More like 8 years or more. If the ADE did not think the program was rigorous enough they would not have the program in place to begin with.

According to his wife Aaron has not been divorced twice because both marriages were annulled. I am Catholic and I have never heard of anyone being granted two annullments. I must say I am a devoted Catholic and I believe God recognizes it as a marriages when one makes a promise to God to obey the vows. And when one divorces he has broken his promise to God whom he must answer to, not someone who has the authority to issue an annullment. Noticed Aaron is now quoting scripture and sharing political views on facebook trying to earn votes.

I don't know who started the Baltz campaign on the hiring of nontraditional teachers but it has cost him a lot of votes. I am a nontraditional teacher in the district and was going to vote for change! My entire family was going to vote for Baltz. Lots of votes. But not now. After his views about non traditional teachers I and my family will not be voting for him.

I think it would be a little silly to think that anyone who has to do with Aaron's campaign posted any of this. I would be careful what I believed coming from a website like this one where you don't know who said what because no one is required to identify themselves. I know Aaron personally and if you would like to know what HE feels about the non-traditional- traditional issue. I would ask him. He is very accessible he has a campaign website with his Facebook link and phone number on it. Call him.

Why not ask him personally? I know 2 of his great friends and supporters that are non-traditional teachers. Like I said, I would call him. He also has supporters that are traditional teachers. I would ask him personally.

I am praying everyone votes tor the men with experience., good morals and level headed who makes good decisions. Evidently Baltz does not have any if the above. He has changed wives 3 times and religions 3 times. Sounds like he is immature makes irrational decisions and does not think things through before committing or lets others msnipulte him.

Just a Suggestion

It's just a suggestion, but instead of focusing on non-traditional teachers or the number of marriages the candidate has had why not focus on the facts that actually matter. Are test scores and financial reports not public record since Pocahontas is a public school? If so, how do we rank in testing for the state? Have our scores went up or down in the past few years? What is our financial situation? Are we in the red or green? I am much more interested in these statistics. If our test scores have risen and we are in the green then I am convinced that our current school board members should remain as is. If they are lower and our budget is suffering then maybe a change is needed. These are the things that will get my vote. Be an educated voter!!!

Well Some facts to consider other schools in the area have technology in every classroom. Our school doesn't. We are behind in that area but our baseball and softball fields sure have new sod going down or being pull up every time you turn around or the track gets a new red surface. How many smart board or I pads would that work have bought. We need to get our priorities straight. How many students have went to college on sports scholarships? How many have went on academic scholarships? I think we all know the which one sends more to college yet this board and administration continues to place higher priority on sports. We need to send a loud and clear message to Blaxton and this board!

I would love to see a comparison of science scores grades 7 thur 12 for the last 10 years. I am willing to bet there is a drop off in test scores.

Why do you say that? I have had three children go through the system and excelled in science.

"Concerned parent" is really educated. One does not say "have went" and she used it in two different sentences. Sounds just like how Aaron's mom talks. I believe she is the one who posted that thread.

"Concerned parent", you don't have a clue what you are talking about. The money the school gets each year has to allocated to different areas. An x amount of money has to be used to maintain the facilities. If money is not used for that purpose the school will lose that funding the next year . So the money that is being spent on the baseball field , softball field , track, repaving the parking lots, etc, is not money that is being taken away from the classroom. And FYI , every classroom does have technology in it. Do your research before you start making things up to make our school look bad.

I agree. This thread needs to focus on the candidates, not trying to make the school look bad. Funding decisions are complicated and rarely understood by the public. And as far as personnel issues, one school board member does not exert that much power.
