I will not bad mouth Mr. Baltz. I am familiar with him. But I do know James Ray Chester very well. I know no other school administrators, teachers or other personnel that have a genuine concern for the students as Mr. Chester and his wife. Mrs. Chester is no longer employed at the school as she has retired. These two I know of many, many times have used their own funds to help pay for kids lunches when the lunch room would no longer provide a meal because the parent had forgotten to replenish their lunch room account, they have paid money out of their own pockets to help students go on trips, buy graduation announcements, buy school clothes when the family could not afford it and many times the parents never knew where the funds came from. I know one young man that now has a smile he can be proud of because Mrs. Chester wrote letters and recommendations to a dentist in Jonesboro a few years ago so this young man could have his teeth worked on and get braces at no cost to him. He was on the cover of Stars Magazine a couple of years ago if you want to verify what I am saying. I think this is the kind of man we need on the school board, one that truly cares for the kids, the school and it's future. I know the reason why some are backing new blood on the school board and for some this is a personal vendetta because they didn't get what they wanted in some of the new hires. That's what it's all about. Mr. Baltz may be the next board member but don't get him elected by bad mouthing his opponent. I truly hope the best man wins.

excellent post---very fair to both men, but probably left out half of what the Chesters have done over the years for kids, and that is what it is all about! No one with a personal agenda or vendetta, will ever get my vote. We need wisdom, cool-headed leaders, and huge hearts--- that's all.

If you are going to tell the " whole " truth get it right. Suzzane "retired" at the first of September because she had in her years and got pissed off. The principal asked her to do something on the computer that was Winnie's responsibility but because she was overwhelmed with a sick husband he told Suzzane to do it. She wouldn't, she quit because that wasn't her job by god and she wasn't gonna do it. Swell people those Chester's. Winnie was the nicest person up there and anyone who would mistreat her is shit.

Well dare I say that this next election.... I know of a large group of folks going to get right in middle of them elections, the whole process and stir in some green tea, mix it up and try and hep the process be a little more fair and balanced. Dont need folks voting more than once and them dead folk need to rest in peace, and them folks in charge of the elections dont need to risk a indictment for voter fraud. Make our little town look bad. Got enough lawsuits marking our territory. TEA

James Ray Chester only keeps the board position to protect his son. That I may add is a nontraditional teacher. So don't give me all that big heart crap about the Chesters they need to go!

Now Mr. Baltz has been at 3 different dealerships and keeps getting demoted. Could it be that he has been caught too many times screwing people over?
Just the kind of guy you would want on the school board.. a car salesman ... someone you know you can't trust!

The chesters have been screwing the public school system over for year by hiring their friends and relatives to certified positions when they are nontraditional. So what's your rebuttal to that?

could it be that his boss moves him to different dealerships to fix problems and get them running right?
could it be he treats people right rather than screwing people over?
speaking for yourself and sounds like a personal problem if you can't trust any car dealers.

Teacher is one who does not have an Education degree. Our school system is full of the however other school systems are not.

So, real truth, tell us the difference in non-traditional and traditional. Does nontraditional have a degree? How do they become teachers?

Yes, they have a license from ADE. They have at least one degree before they go through the 2 year non-traditional program. They are also closely mentored for 2 years.
Non-traditional teachers usually bring a greater variety of experience into the classroom, because of their age, other career experiences, and maturity. They use sound reasoning and listening skills, have better management skills, have the ability to concentrate more fully and are eager to learn.
They are usually older, mature teachers and have a better sense of self, and are better at relating to students of varied backgrounds and challenges, and may ultimately prove to be more effective educators. When teachers come from similar community backgrounds as the students they teach, they are able to relate to the real life experiences of their students and thus become more effective teachers.

Thank you teacher ! So why do some people and former candidates feel like it is a negative for our district to hire nontraditional teachers? From what I understand, a nontraditional teacher actually has more education than a teacher with a BSE in education . Why would a school district not want to hire these teachers ?

Non traditional teacher are ones that can't make it in the real world so the teach. The non traditional system was created for the delta and shortage of teachers there and other shortage areas. If non tradition teachers are so great why even have education departments in colleges. Also why aren't the other schools in the area hiring non traditionals at the rate we are? I will tell you why other schools hire the most qualified not friends of the board members. Other boards look out for their student not just their friends.
