After hearing solid objective evidence from local doctors & nurses, our Quorum Court decided to table the resolution, and DID NOT support the City of Pocahontas in it's effort to oust Medic One. Not a single JP voted for the resolution.
The storm is gathering for next week's city council meeting.
Be there.

I for one and Very greatful that the county is not backing the city on this. Medic One has done an outstanding job for the last 12 yrs!!! If they want to bring in another ambulance service by all means do so. But, do not kick out the one we have now for they do an amazing job!

Still have chills from last night's dramatic court meeting. It was exciting to be a part of a public assembly that stopped a wrongful resolution. Now on to the city council to express our dissatisfaction with the franchise and then to campaign against Rob Olvey and Tim Scott ever being allowed to make decisions for our community again.

So glad to hear that the Quorum Court supported Medic One last night. I think any city council member that supports getting rid of Medic One should be voted out of office!!!!

I am very thankful that the county is on medic ones side i am very close to many medic one employees and let me just say that they have been there for us for many years and now its our turn to back them up. If scott baltz has a problem with someone from there he needs to settle that himself with that person(people)notbring the whole base down. Those are good people and they shouldnt suffer because he thinks he better than everyone. the pocahontas base has saved alot of lives and i know certin employees that bust thier asses that make sure that happens. we all need to support them. Its our turn to bust our asses to help save them.

this new ambulance service will save alot of lives too just wondering why medic one is so upset they DIDN'T even put a bid in for the franchise all the city wants is to make sure the people of randolph co and pocahontas has an available ambulance when one is needed all medic one had to do is put in a daytime truck like they had and have on call people to staff it on the weekends but they said no we are not going to thats what the truck in walnut ridge is for 15 min from poc 30 min from biggers reyno 40 min from maynard approx 1 hour from dalton ravenden springs imo they have no right to complain unless they put in a bid which they said they wasnt goin to oh well bye bye m1 dont let the door hit you where the good lord split you

cheech, why do you think Medic One is upset? Obviously they aren't upset, they are just stuck in small town politics. But I will tell you who is upset, that is everyone in the medical community.
cheech, as the implies, is just blowing smoke, like the uninformed council members that started this mess

the people of pocahontas do have an available ambulance any time the two pocahontas trucks get called out the wr truck comes into pocahontas and covers the county they stay in the county weather it at the county line or at the base they aint no father than if one of the other trucks were here. n the whole reason they didnt put in a bid is because they shouldnt have to give in and let the city control everything about the base when they already do a great job. do u know that if they bring in another company the city controls who works there who gets fired how they do thier jobs and not to mention the people who work there right now eitherhave to move to a base farther from home, lose their job,or take ahuge pay cut ifthey stay. why should every one including the employees who work their asses off to save lives have to suffer just because scott baltz has his head up his ass and is acting like a two year old cuz he dont get along with they guys in charge. the pocahontas crew has some damn good employees and they do a great job bringing in a different company wont be any different for the comunity the city just wants a company that will be their bitch

I have watched Medic One in action several times at the ER and on the scene. They are very professional and some of the most caring individuals I have ever worked with. I have also seen them save several lives by what they did when they arrived at the scene. Leave Medic One alone! Let them continue the great service they have established in this county. Shame on you City Council!

Don't you recall, some time back, when Fire Chief Scott Baltz was employed by an ambulance company in Randolph County. And isn't this a County matter, and not a city matter, since they are countywide ?
Seems like Baltz has his nose in everything, maybe he is on a power trip.

it was the city that started this. Mr. Baltz works for the county and is a Jp in the county. It was the city that started this. You needd to get your nose into business you know what you are talking about. He doesnt run the city the other baltz family distant distant relative runs the town. The city gave them 25 acres free with a baltz pres of chamber, scott's job on line chamber. And none of them buy crap around here. Peanuts not tea or maybe tea and peanuts.

You should check the City of Pocahontas web site, you might learn something yourself. Scott Baltz is listed as the ADA Coordinator & Fire Chief for the city. Sounds to me as if he works for and helps run the city. Anyway, everyone see's he is tight with Rob Olvey.

So what about the 125 times that Medic One did not have an ambulance here. Is mutual aid acceptable? How many times did Medic One have four or more trucks in the county? Yes, the crews at Medic One are great and unfortunately it is an issue because the city wants to oust a great service but thankfully the Randolph County Quorum Court would not accept that.

I bet you can count on one hand how many times four Medic One trucks were in the county in the last 5 years. How about the time that one of the Pocahontas trucks took a Jonesboro run that was over 8 hours away, that left Randolph County with one truck for over 16 hours while Jonesboro had full operations. The crews at Medic One in Randolph County are great (thankfully), but higher ups need to quit using the employees and care a little more about the citizens of Randolph County. These men and women here at Medic One have horrible shifts and care enough to help the "hometown people", they are the ones that need protection from their greedy boss. It doesn't matter that the crews have been running 24 hours straight at the first of their shift, they just have to keep on going so that money can keep flowing in big (oops, little) man's pocket.
just the facts please

so what about the over 125 times medic one could NOT supply a ambulance for a call in the past 6 months! where were they then, sitting at the county line an going the other way?? no one knows about that number or wants to admit to it !! sounds like medic one mgmt just left the local emts to hang. Not even trying to put in a bid. Yes the emts are great, its not the issue. <quoted text>
So, you know who bid & who did not bid? It's not been announced yet, so that must make you privy to confidential information, perhaps you have a buddy on the city council?
Since you are tossing stats about, I'm sure you would urge your friends at the council to consider ALL the state performance reports for local EMS service. As noted in the Quorum Court meeting, statistics show our local EMS response and service is excellent, especially compared to other
If you want to quote stats, you should use all objective data, you can't just cherry pick..,if you want to be taken seriously. The council already has that problem.

So if the city / county, wants to be in the ambulance buisness. How much subsidy dollars will Randolph county be contributing to the new ambulance service?

ok so I would like to know where the city gets their "data" from that seems to be one of the major questions here that they dn't seem to want to answer. Mr. Olvey looked like a fool the other night quoting things that he knew nothing of but Mrs. Lewis sure stood up and handled that for him. Our medics and EMT's are wonderful at their job. Can we afford to lose them? Will they work for new ambulance service? Doubt it as Medic One pays better than most ambulance services around here. Because they have families they go home to that they support. Come on people. The city needs to quit trying to strong arm Medic One into doing something because they thats what "they" think is needed. If you want another ambulance service fine bring one in but dn't kick out the one providing excellent care already!!! Please call city hall and put yourself on the agenda for the 26th and stand up for our wonderful ambulance service!! Voice your opinion let the city know they cannot dictate a business and tell them who to hire and fire and how much they can pay employees. Think about this if you are or were a business owner in pocahontas would you want city telling you how much you can charge for what you sell and who you can and can't hire? No, I really dn't think you would that folks is, i'm sure the reason they didn't put in a bid!!!!

There really wasn't a bidding process. The way I understand this, is that they just wanted Medic One to sign an 9 page document giving up most of its rights to operated their own buisness. And I don't think anyone else did sign or would sign?
