The gas station in Maynard sports a large sign proclaiming "Phillips 66". After filling my tank and talking to the person working there, I discovered that it wasn't Phillips 66 fuel after all. Isn't that false advertising or "bait and switch"? Shouldn't they remove the sign if they no longer have the product? Does anyone know where to lodge a complaint?

Haven't you figured out by now that all the gas around here comes from Murphy's in Bono. Gas is gas. Your one of them that would b!tch no matter what. Why don't you take it up with the owner instead of getting on here complaining to the topix police.

You are very wrong. Jordans in Pocahontas still sells Phillips 66. All 'gas' is not the same. "Top Tier" fuels still contain "pre Bush" levels of additives which are recommended by all auto companies and all small engines (mowers, 4-wheelers, golf carts and boat motors to name a few). I am very upset that they would keep their sign up years after changing suppliers! They need to take the sign down. It is false advertising!

If u dont like it go some where else
Competive prices

Are their prices similar to other stations in the county or are they higher? Often the name brand stations charge more for their fuel, but people that prefer that brand are willing to pay it. If their prices are higher than everyone else, but they are not selling what the sign says, it looks like that would be if not illegal, unethical since they are misleading people into paying a higher price that they expect for Phillips 66, but not delivering it. It would be deliberately deceptive.

They are the same price if not a few cents cheaper.

I am very sorry that sign upset you the people should be put in jail or shot at sunrise, however since you are already upset here is some more things that are going to make you mad: The tooth Fairy is not real, Santa is also not real, that Chicken sandwich from McDonalds is made up of ground up paste of parts of maybe chicken. Now back to fuel, Ethanol mixed gas gets 20% less mileage that other fuel it takes one gallon of fossel fuel to make one and half gallons of Ethanol fuel which contains chemicals that rust your fuel injection system. So maybe knowing all this is there any way you could live knowing that sign is probably wrong?

The sign doesn't upset anyone. The fact that the fuel they are selling isn't the same brand that they are advertising does upset some people. Ethanol mixed fuels break down if not used quickly. They can cause moisture to get in your engine and cause expensive damage. That could be a huge problem for boat motors that sit through the winter. If they don't sell Phillips 66, they should remove the sign. I know I will never stop there again.

So don't and quit acting the fool.
If you don't like the sign tell the owner or better yet contact Phillips 66 and they will take care of your issue.

All gas comes from the main pipelines from either the coastal regions. The difference is that when the local tanker trucks are loaded at the terminals that is when different additives are added according to each company. You did not really believe that each company has their own pipelines criss-crossing the country. Have you ever heard of the Keystone Pipeline? Each company pumps into the line and for every gallon they put in they can remove the same amount at the terminal.

Not all gas is equal. Phillips 66 does not come from Murphy.

If you didn't know that station wasn't 66 then you from outta town, who cares, you wouldn't buy there less you had to, and will run through yer tank quik.
No harm, you could just as easy get a slug o water anywhere.
If your not stranger, then you know little station barely makes it, we're happy to have it.
You saw it, barely one bub burnin, tiny inventory.
Leave them and us alone, you didn't get scammed. Hell, the sign's a dammed antique!
