Peco Foods will make money. They are coming to two towns desperate for anything right now. Peco Foods will make their fortune taking all the tax breaks from the poor people and Corning will wind up with the smell and the additional problems. People around Jasper Arkansas are now protesting the building of ONE hog farm there that could potentially polute the Buffalo River. Peco Foods is coming here to build this large operation with subsidies from you and me and it will need to be supported by 200 to 300 chicken farms. Do you have any idea what that will smell like? No protest from Corning or I guess Pocahontas.

When you leave Pocahontas will be a better place. A lot of people can't wait. If you had any idea what people think about you, you would already be packed.

spoken like a true redneck. we don't give a shit about you. why don't you look in your ancestry and go back to their country of origin? by the way, you could apologize for the mass murder of indigenous tribes by your ancestors when they stole the land. as a matter of fact, most of those wading across the Rio probably have closer kinship to original land owners than you.

Visit Dodge City Kansas if you want to see a small town dominated by Mexicans working in processing plants. Chickens don't stink near as bad as cattle or hogs. Somewhat low odor. Pocahontas will never be a Rogers. NO university, no Walmart, no JB Hunt, no Beaver Lake, etc

There is a large chicken house south of Ark Hwy 90 where Ark 139 junctions at Holly Island. It's visible from that intersection but is a good distance from the highway. People thought it would smell especially since there is more southerly winds than north winds. It's been there several years now and I've never heard any complaints nor have I ever smelled it. Now between 40 & 50 years ago, there were chicken houses around the Piggott and Pollard area. There was one in particular on US Hwy 62 between Piggott & Pollard that would have gagged a maggott. The school buses had to stop at houses near them to pick up children and we nearly suffocated and vomitted while waiting for them to board the buses. We didn't have A/C in the warm months so all the windows on the school buses were down. It was terrible and even worse after they cleaned them and stirred up the chicken manure and scattered it around. Of course, I guess there are government regs re all that now. I would be more concerned with the working conditions and disease, etc., than anything else. I guess with government regs and results of lawsuits, it is better now. I know the entirety of Clay Co. is desperate for jobs but Idk if they are worth the health of the people or not. What good is having a job if it results in the loss of your health and is it really worth a boon to the local economy if there is pollution that causes problems immediately or later. Hopefully all of this is taken care of with government regs that will be enforced. I wouldn't be nearly as worried about an influx of Spanish speaking peoples or a company being subsidized with taxpayer money as I would be with the potential health & pollution problems. There are many Mexicans living in NEA & SEMO already. Everyone seems to have adjusted to them already. I think that the ones who are willing to work will be good people as they are wanting a better life just like everyone else. And I'm sure there will be some bad eggs in the batch just as there are with all people. It's not like we didn't have criminals in Corning and Clay Co. before they came. For years there were 2 county jails and 2 city jails. And for years there were the county sheriff and 3 deputies. Then it was increased to 4 due to some problems in Knobel and then it was increased to 8 due to the meth and other drug problems. This was without any black or Mexican population of any notice. So our white f9olks have been far from perfect and will continue to be so without any outside help. Just saying.

I think this is a good deal since it might bring an end to the death grip rule by the DeClerks, Baltzs and Jansens plus about 6 other families. If there is enough Mexicans to move here and flood the schools with non speaking kids, The town will be Bilingual and First National Bank will open a Banko de Mexico where Juan and Paco can send all their American Dollars to South of the Border towns and the drug cartel will be in control of the police.
Pocahontas will become little Mexico and the Mayor will then forever be Hispanic.
Lets think up a new name for this berg such as Pecoville.
Well all the Mexicans will be taking over because all the white trash rednecks like yourself don't want to work. All they do is smoke crack, drink beer, and live off welfare. If the cartels were here you would not be talking this stupid smack. Cartels Bring Jobs.:) so watch it you never know if a cartel member is around you

You would think a town going down the skids would be happy to have a new business that offers good wages and benefits in town. Sorry it's not Waterloo. Geez get over it. There are a lot of other towns right now that would like to have this opportunity.

With all these chicken house odors floating through Corning, I wonder if Bubba's shack may go down in value!!
Maybe he should go ahead and give it to the state and move into the "Home for the golden years".
It is a good thing he has Obama care!! That should pay his way for the first six month!!!

Corning is going to Stink worse than it already does. The only thing that it has going for it in the last 10 years is that young movie star from Corning.
