Well what can you say, Mosquitoes , snakes, spiders, wild animals , crazy people and maybe Meth Houses with a serial killer have moved into those abandoned homes!
How come Scott Baltz spoke instead of our Hero Mayor?
Has Mr. Frank given up complete control of his office to Scott?
It looks that way!

you have a reason for the negative post and getting on the mayor?
the mayor is management, it's scott's JOB to enforce the ordinance. what the heck is wrong with him explaining it.

and what's up with the claims of crazy people, meth houses, and a serial killer moving into the houses? trying to scare folks for some reason?

keep your stupid lies to yourself. hard to do, but you're giving topix a bad name by posting such lies here.

Why would anyone defend the Mayor who stood by while the code enforcement officer went around telling many of those people that now abandoned their homes that all the wiring must be brought up to code including breaker boxes that were 5 feet above the waters that entered the homes.
Then there were those out of town electricians that went around threatening people that they would be reported if they did not use a licensed electrician and pull a permit to repair any water damage in the homes!
So many of these people faced with those outrageous costs just had to walk away.
The Mayor has been a failure!
He just can't or will not handle major issues.
He even refused to fire the town id@it dog catcher!
He isn't a leader and he needs to resign so that someone who is willing to make some good decisions can get this mess under control.
He needs to park his pride at the door and start doing something about appointing a new chief of police.
I doubt he will do anything now since he doesn't really have the support of the citizens of the town.
good question

Any abandoned house would be an ideal site for a Meth cooker.
I personally don't think we have any Real "serial" killers here in Poky.
However you would enjoy watching My "cereal killer" eat 1/2 a box of wheaties every morning.

OH poor slingshot, does that house bother your view of the highway?
Your house isn't much better, maybe you ought to consider fixing it up before you want to condemn someones home.

The Real Tackmaster speaks here....love those who try to imitate me. However, we must address real life issues. Our city needs better manganement for sure. I voted for Mr Bigger. I really thought he would take the complaints with those hired by Former MAYOR CRACKER BARREL SERIOUSLY. Remember folks in 2007 the city Mayor Crocker and Fire Chief Baltz got busted by EPA for threatening home owners and telling them they were going to burn the house down if it was not cleaned up. Can you think of better way for someone to take control of a lot in city. ITs reported the EPA came here and busted them first hand burning without calling ahead and purchasing a permit. Damn, You pay permit for Yard Sale, etc. Im telling you this outfit we elected do not believe they are held to same standards of the law. It happened. They were told not to burn and intimidate folks out of homes that way. Investigate your rights in your area. Those officials have a record. SOMEONE MAY LISTEN TO YOU NOW! TEA!

what did the home owners do with the funds they received for the flood damage, and what did the renters do with thier share of the money. it was to be used to fix these places up; wiring, breaker boxes, ect. it is hard to figure out why all the complaining when the government already paid for it. you people are getting way off track on the subject anyway. seems to me you all need to face the facts; the owners DO NOT CARE. to them it is a tax write off in more ways than one and they got paid to do it, get the picture!!!!! I personally believe Poky to be a beautiful place and would love to purchase a home there. The sourroundings are absolutally beautiful. Be thankful for what you have.....

Here is a real life example , mrs Mollie has no idea what has happened to some people!
When the flood came they were living in a home they pretty much owned and had Social security and other retirement benefits amounting to $1100 a month .
They were doing Ok , The flood hit them hard , they lost all of the furniture and possessions and That big check mrs Mollie said they got wasn't even $2000!
Some Good meaning church group then went in and destroyed most of the sheet rock that wasn't wet or Damaged.
Then that City inspector told them that the house now had to meet code- new wiring, breaker box ,heat and air.
They have almost no savings and can't get a loan.
So They can't do much of anything except try to almost give the house away.
So here is a house that at best is worth $40,000 and needs about that much spent on it to make it livable again.

Best thing that could f happened to them. apparently they are old . They really didnt have enough income to be homeoners anyway. Now they can give their 1100 a month to a retirement place like elmcroft. & eventully to a nursing home DHS will pay the difference. They will be better off. Better for their children now their wont be anything to fight over when they die. Silver lining? It just depend on how you look at it. Of course everything should be up to code thats why we have building codes.

I thought we lived without Building codes once upon a time. It was called a helping hand, volunteers, Church collections and church volunteers etc helping others out in order to keep that farm and mule. We just had better solutions for our elderly Shame on us ... miss those days.

Now we need paid volunteers for everything, we will all need to worry about paying volunteers soon to guard the farm and mule, those who are not preparing will be coming after you and me who did put up some corn and hay in the shed. TEA!

i know several of owner occupied folks got $20,000+ FREE to remodel.
explain why they only got $2000. was that furn only maybe?
maybe not technically their deeded home?

my understanding on code, if just 3-4 ft cut out low = no new breaker/no rewire.
entire wall opened up = new breaker/rewire.
they should have asked before starting the job.

Ok so we make exceptions and let the homes be fixed without conforming to the codes. then later when there is a problem the folks will blame he code enforcement for nor doing their job. Robil will flood again. The whole place should be condemmed.
