Exit Ted Cruz, Enter Paul Ryan
The Wisconsin congressman is being sent on another rescue missionto save the GOP from Cruzs mess.
Sen. John McCain says the Obamacare defund detour may hurt the Republican Party for years to come. The polls show that the damage from the government shutdown has certainly been acute. The Gallup poll that tracks the approval rating of Republicans in Congress looks like the bend of a hockey stick. At 28 percent approval, it is the lowest since the organization started measuring and down 10 points from last month. The Wall Street Journal poll has an identical finding: The GOP has never been less popular. By a margin of 22 points, the public blames Republicans over President Obama for the government shutdown, a bigger gap than the last major shutdown in the mid-1990s. Seventy percent say that Republicans are putting their "political agenda" ahead of the good of the country.
Whether this is a permanent condition or a temporary one depends on getting Sen. Ted Cruz off the stage and Rep. Paul Ryan onsubstituting a bristly champion of an unpopular strategy that divides the party with a congenial representative of the GOPs traditional views on taxing and spending. That's why House Republican leaders are trying to craft a deal with the White House to reopen government and start budget negotiations where House Budget Committee Chairman Ryan will be the key player. Overnight Thursday White House staffers worked with their House counterparts to find a way to give Republicans cover to reopen the government while not making it look like the president had given in to their demands. House Republicans need some kind of "win" to take to their constituents to prove that this battle wasn't pointless. On Friday, the president met with Senate Republicans to discuss their plans to return the government to full operations.

The party of "personal responsibility" has been exposed as a fraud. The ACA requires personal responsibility from a wide swath of the population requiring people to take the trouble and money to be insured.
Further, and here is their hidden objection, it requires corporate,(and in the case of individually held companies like the Koch Brothers Empire) personal responsibility for the healthcare coverage of people who are working for (read, dedicating their lives to) their companies.
That the Heritage Foundation would be working so hard at defunding and defeating a law which incorporated at its heart their own concept proposal (individual mandate) from the Heritage Foundation in 1993 demonstrates the perfidy of the Right. "Destroy the center, destroy the left, move everything further right until there is no government left to oppose us" has become their evident goal.
This opportunity must be taken to expose their evil intentions. Little of the discussion has touched on the millions of people's lives which are destroyed each year by the lack of insurance, devastating illness untreatable for lack of funds, individuals and families ruined financially, problems the healthcare law addresses.
Mr. Obama, in becoming a target for attack from so many sides for so many reasons, has succeeded in flushing out the formerly hidden groups which now mistakenly think the majority of the country supports their position. It is time for the majority to speak, now, and on election day

The Captain has spoken....we have a Supreme Court that wants to undermime our representative democracy with unlimited finacial contributions from people like the Koch brothers. They buy these nitwits and then own them lock stock and barrel. How can this be good for any of us?
#53468 Oct 13, 2013
So raise taxes on the rich. To me this is pretty simple. If you are serious about closing the income-to-expenditures gap, and see that as the big threat to civilization as we know it, then agree to raise taxes a smidgen on the people who can afford to pay them. There are a lot of options -- financial transactions tax would be high on my list; carbon tax; lower the estate tax exemption down to 1990s levels; lift the cap on earnings subject to Social Security tax.
And you are also required to notice that even in a severe recession, Obama has cut the annual deficit in half, rather than spinning lies about how he single-handedly has quadrupled it and driven us out of pristine fiscal responsibility into chaos and disaster.
IMO most of the blathering about the debt and the deficit is just window-dressing for the ideology-driven campaign to eliminate all social programs including Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, unemployment benefits, WIC, housing assistance, fuel assistance, and anything else that transfers a few pennies to poor people. Only programs that transfer billions to wealthy people (farm subsidies, military contracts for stuff the Army doesn't even want, bank bailouts) will survive and get increases.
From Robert Reich:
"In 2010 he agreed to extend all of the Bush tax cuts through the end of 2012. Were they satisfied? Of course not.......In response, the President offered an overly-generous $4 trillion Grand Bargain, including cuts in Social Security and Medicare and whopping cuts in domestic spending (bringing it to its lowest level as a share of gross domestic product in over half a century)......
When they demanded more, Obama agreed to a Super Committee to find bigger cuts, and if the Super Committee failed, a sequester that would automatically and indiscriminately slice everything in the federal budget except Social Security and Medicare.......
By the end of 2012, they insisted that the Bush tax cuts be permanently extended or the nation would go over the fiscal cliff. Once again, Obama caved, agreeing to permanently extend the Bush tax cuts for incomes up to $400,000.........
Obama offered more cuts in Medicare and a chained CPI to reduce Social Security payments, in exchange for Republican concessions on taxes......"

"Obama has cut the annual deficit in half, rather than spinning lies about how he single-handedly has quadrupled it and driven us out of pristine fiscal responsibility into chaos and disaster."
In a nutshell, Obama isn't spending as much but he is still spending money we don't have. That's why it's called deficit spending.
There is a huge difference between the deficit and the debt. No, he has not quadrupled his deficit spending; he has added more to the national debt in 5 years than his predecessor has done in 8. He has NOT cut our total debt in half! Look at the National Debt Clock. It's rapidly approaching $17 TRILLION dollars. On top of yearly deficit expenditures, you'll have the added cost of Obamacare, which will be closer to $4 trillion over 10 years than the original projection of $900 billion over 10 years. We're looking at a debt of over $20 trillion by the time Obama leaves office. That is unsustainable.

Don't forget who is on the other side of that Koch Brothers coin...George Soros.
It's still the same coin, just in D or R flavor.

your facts are all lies....
Cost of ObamaCare: Obama Care Cost
What Does ObamaCare Cost?
What is the cost of ObamaCare? ObamaCare, Obama's new health care law, has a massive impact on health care costs. ObamaCare's cost is estimated at up to net cost of $1.1 trillion dollars over the next 10 years. Although Obamacare's net costs are in the trillions, the law actually reduces the growth in health care spending by tens of billions each year, reduces health care costs for many Americans, helps to insure tens of millions and is estimated to result in an overall net decrease of the deficit.
Obamacare is projected to cut the national deficit by over $200 billion during it's first 10 years and over $1 trillion over the next two decades. This helps offset the up-front cost of ObamaCare. Please be aware the cost estimates are changed on a regular basis and are often quoted as being between $1 and $2.6 trillion. Our cost estimate is taken directly from the front page of the official CBO report on ObamaCare's costs. ObamaCare is paid for through collected taxes, penalties, spending cuts and reformations to the health care industry.

how about the cost of two useless unwinnable wars that Bush started? dont forget we had NO money to pay for these wars...PLUS INTEREST!

Iraq, Afghan wars will cost to $4 trillion to $6 trillion !!!!!!
The U.S. wars in Afghanistan and Iraq will cost taxpayers $4 trillion to $6 trillion, taking into account the medical care of wounded veterans and expensive repairs to a force depleted by more than a decade of fighting, according to a new study by a Harvard researcher.
Washington increased military benefits in late 2001 as the nation went to war, seeking to quickly bolster its talent pool and expand its ranks. Those decisions and the protracted nation-building efforts launched in both countries will generate expenses for years to come, Linda J. Bilmes, a public policy professor, wrote in the report that was released Thursday.
As a consequence of these wartime spending choices, the United States will face constraints in funding investments in personnel and diplomacy, research and development and new military initiatives, the report says. The legacy of decisions taken during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars will dominate future federal budgets for decades to come.
Fix news dont report this, why is that?

I'll take the Government Accountability Office over your website any day of the week. Please tell me, in what universe, does excess spending lower the deficit?
"Obamacare will increase the long-term federal deficit by $6.2 trillion, according to a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report released today.
The GAO report is essentially the first attempt to isolate and calculate Obamacares impact on the deficit beyond the traditional ten-year budget window. GAO ran two simulations based on broad sets of assumptions about health care spending and other components of federal spending and revenue over a 75-year period. First, a baseline-extended simulation, which illustrates the long-term outlook assuming federal laws (applicable at the time the simulation was run) remain unchanged, and second, an alternative simulation, which illustrates the long-term fiscal outlook assuming historical trends and policy preferences continue.
The baseline scenario is far more optimistic, largely because it does not take into account the concerns expressed by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Trustees, and Medicares chief actuary about whether certain cost-containment mechanisms included in PPACA can be sustained over the long term.
However, the GAO report concluded that even under these more optimistic assumptions, Obamacares cost-control provisions were not sufficient to prevent an unsustainable increase in debt held by the public.
The alternative scenario, which incorporates the more realistic alternative projections suggested by CBO, the CMS trustees, and the chief Medicare actuary, is even more dire. Under this scenario, the primary deficit increases by 0.7 percent of GDP over the 75-year period. The GAO does not put a dollar value on that figure, but Senate Budget Committee staff has calculated, and GAO has confirmed, that it would amount to a $6.2 trillion increase in the federal deficit. "
Sorry Bobby, Math wins and you lose...actually, we all lose.

#53480 Oct 14, 2013
The Real numbers !
"The Government Accountability Office estimated (Obamacare) will add to the long-term deficit by $6.2 trillion."
Griffith said the GAO estimated Obamacare will add $6.2 trillion to deficits over the next 75 years.
That figure isnt in the GAO report that Griffiths office cited. Republicans came up with the number by adding reasonable computations to a worst-case scenario laid out by the GAO early this year.
Griffith failed to mention that the report also contained a rosy scenario showing Obamacare could substantially reduce long-term deficits. The GAO did not say in its report which of the scenarios is more likely to occur. Many experts say the reality likely will fall somewhere in the middle.
So Griffiths statement contains a trace of fact, but creates a deceptive claim about what the GAO report said. We rate his statement Mostly False.

He was canned along with Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin ..LOL!
The Daily Caller likes to suck in the idiot tea bag drones that believe their stories and lies.
Here is a sample of their worthless news and lies.
Senator Bob Menendez prostitution controversy and FBI investigation In an article titled "Women: Sen. Bob Menendez paid us for sex in the Dominican Republic", The Daily Caller reported that New Jersey senator Bob Menendez had allegedly paid two prostitutes to have sex with him during a stay at a Dominican Republic resort. The report included videotaped interviews with the women. The allegation came five days before the 2012 New Jersey senate election. News organizations such as the New York Times, ABC News and the New York Post declined to publish the allegations, viewing them as unsubstantiated and lacking credibility.

Scandal Fever Is Making Fox News Even More Demented Than Usual!!!!!!!
It must be a terrible burden to have to manage as many trumped up scandals as Fox News is currently struggling with. The sheer volume of fabricated nonsense to manufacture and inventory would be a strain on any propaganda outfit. But the pressure is showing now as Fox appears unable to function under the weight of the task. Take a look at these recent schizoid episodes they have belched out:
On the Fox Business Network, their anchor Lou Dobbs hosted a panel to discuss the state of women in the workplace and the results of a new poll that shows more American women are the primary earners in their families. In order to have a balanced debate on this subject, Fox invited only men to participate. But after you hear what one of those men said, youll understand why women werent necessary:
There has been no shortage of reporting by Fox that negatively frames the issue of marriage equality, but when a Republican senator, Rob Portman, announces that because of his gay son he now supports it, Fox nearly ignores the subject entirely.
One of Foxs favorite stories of the past several years involved the videos of James OKeefe, whose editing was deliberately misleading and dishonest, but when one of his victims, Juan Carlos Vera, forced OKeefe into a $100,000 settlement, Fox abstained from reporting it.
Lies and fantasies dont win elections, as you can see by the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections !!
Yes folks, visit FIX news and Daily Caller websites for the real ,unbiased, newsworthy ,late breaking news....LOL!
And you wonder why the Limbaugh nut juice sippers cant win elections !! LOL!
