Seeking the rare breed attorney

There has been a death in the family and, while in mourning, I signed on with an attorney whom I now feel is charging excessive fees for an estate that is clear cut and easy. Like other professions, attorneys probably stick together. Anyone have a referral for an attorney known for walking to his own beat? One who is not guided solely by dollars, and would help me through the rest of this without losing my pants as well as my shirt? Thank you.
