Crosswalk violation? Who's?

Ok, I was driving on Fernbrook, a four lane two way road and saw three police patrols with the blinkers going, one I passed and two on the other side of the road … then as I continued driving (under 40 as the speed limit says), four lanes away I noticed a lady put a step into the road as she was going to cross, almost perpendicular to my position; she was with what appear to be her husband but he was on the side of the road. I continued driving carefully because another patrol had stopped another driver just ahead of us. Then I saw a patrol behind my car, I moved to the side to let him go but he stayed in the same place, then I continued and passed the other patrol, the patrol behind me moved to stop me and gave me a ticket because “I suppose to stop at the time pedestrian steps into the crosswalk”. I guess it doesn’t matter of the timing and if you are four lanes away.
I did ask the officer if those people were working with them and he said yes. It was a set up!
What a shame, things like this affect the respect and admiration that we suppose to have for people in uniform. One older lady that was caught was crying in her car. Five people caught at the same time.
I could say that at one time I had a record of 20 to 25 years without a traffic ticket.

Apparently there was a sting operation in Plymouth for Crosswalk Violations. Channel 12 had some information and appears that the police was doing their work. Great, but was all done in a clean way? What about if someone puts a step on the road at the time you are driving four lanes away on the oposite side on a 40 mph road and you can't stop; then YOU ARE THE VICTIM!

This is the kind of behavior that causes a rift between police and citizens. There are better ways to promote community involvement in public safety! The police chief needs to involve residents rather than alienate them. This is precisely the sort of campaign that incites movements like BLM.

Back in the day it was most important to NOT have an accident.
Nowadays it's most important to follow the law carefully.
The crosswalk law is written so a driver must not enter a crosswalk if there is a pedestrian anywhere in that crosswalk.(.) When I am a pedestrian I NEVER walk out in front of a moving vehicle. You MUST walk defensively these days because there are so many distracted drivers. There are many idiots who "think" as long as they are in a crosswalk they have an invisible shield/bubble protecting them, WRONG.
The crosswalk law has KILLED lots of these crosswalk idiots, Remember the idiot over in Mpls who was listening to her ear bugs instead of watching for moving vehicles, RIP. Remember a box truck hit and killed her because the driver could not see her, blind spot in the truck. You want to be killed by a blind spot? Or worse, be crippled for life living in a nursing home a quad?
OR recall the crosswalk idiot in Oakdale who was riding his bike on the Gateway trail, Gateway to Heaven. The crosswalk is near an intersection on Hadley and the traffic was stopped and 2 lanes of cars had not parked in the crosswalk. The biker idiot assumed it was OK to ride between the stopped cars and wizz across Hadley. The idiot didn't realized there was a right turn lane that started on the north edge of the crosswalk which was next to an intersection. So Jane Doe driver comes bombing down the road and drives into the right turn lane and she collides with the crosswalk idiot on a bike damn near killing him. The driver is ticketed and bike rider is in recovery a long time and now makes commercials for a slimy lawyer, read BIG SETTLEMENT.
The justice system completely forgot the crosswalk meant CROSS WALK!!! NOT CROSS RIDE!! Furthermore the intersection remains the same, the right turn lane starts just north of the trail meaning that it is available to use, in a normal persons way of thinking. AND there are STOP SIGNS on the Gateway trail so everyone is supposed to STOP and yield to traffic, correct?
Bottom line is the biker was found to be correct in what he did so the driver got hit hard with punishment and probably large settlement. The biker will, I bet, use common sense the next time he crosses ANY road. His recovery was long and not without pain.
BTW enforcing the crosswalk law to the letter may educate a very small number of motorists but statistically have NO impact on the number of pedestrians hit in crosswalks. The ONLY way to reduce the number of pedestrians/bikers hit by motor vehicles is for pedestrians/bikers to BE DAMNED CAREFUL!!! When a vehicle collides with a person the person loses!
