PAGEANT COACHES is another informative story by Allison Kaplan about style, fashion and beauty. Kaplan, like NYT Style writer Karin Nelson, consistently provides readers with timely news about fashion and accessories, new and unique beauty products, and interesting features about people in the biz.

Style & Grace owners Erica Nego and Ashley Hawkes have a history of pageant and modeling achievement, and are now successful business women sharing the lessons they've learned with clients who are pursuing their own pageant and modeling dreams. The personal improvement tips and advice specific to pageant competitions they give their clients are useful, but even more impressive are the suggestions they make to help their clients stand out from other pageant contestants: be knowledgeable, precise, articulate, direct but not argumentitive, and most of all compete with dignity---personal characteristics that will serve these women well in whatevers career paths they choose.

Erica Nego and Ashley Hawkes are pageant coaches, but also appear to be excellent "design for living" role models for their clients too.

Outstanding article! It just like in any profession or sport...the winners have the best coaches. From business coaches, to basketball coaches to...of course...pageant coaches it really is important to get the right information from the right people!

I am amazed by the fact that the states who consistently win/place in the national pageants use the same resources, coaches, designers etc. The right coach can definitely make the difference between victory and defeat!

Too bad these young women have to "teach" good manners to contestants at this stage of their lives.

The coaches could use a bacon double cheeseburger or two.
