This should be interesting. I will surely go over and check out their products after the initial influx of traffic dies down. This is on the west side opposite the old DRC. On the DRC side they have continual police calls for shoplifters at the Meijers and confrontations in the parking lot. Perhaps this corner could be one stop shopping for the miscreants.

I went by the location today. All the signs are up. The store looks new, but I believe it's the old Forest City site revamped. It's very accessible from every direction including I-96.
Long gone are the days of the neighborhood hardware where you could get a quick plumbing part and information. Now the best strategy is to make a complete list, buy extra items, and return the unused parts. Lowe's is very good about handling returns.

ITs where Kroger's was NOT Forest City. It is directly across from Meijer's. If you want an OLD TIME hardware store go to DUKE'S on Ford road near Telegraph.

Dukes and also Northside True Value on Wayne Road. Trouble is they are not across the street when you need something quick. You have to warehouse your own parts now.

Very excited for this new store. I was at the opening of the Chesterfield store and here are some tips that may ease some of the pain.
1: Its going to be very busy! Think Black-Friday but worse. MUCH WORSE! With that said, get there EARLY! We open at 630 am for your early shopping!
2: We do quotes on just about everything! If you want a kitchen or house design or whatever, have ALL YOUR MEASUREMENTS!
3: Dont be surprised if you cant get a shopping cart. We have roughly 500-600 carts, it is possible you wont have one. If you expect to buy a lot, GET THERE EARLY!!
4: This maybe the hardest one. HAVE PATIENCE! The workers are not all seasoned! We have a 4 week training process and lots of paperwork and information to shove into people in a short amount of time. Not everyone will know the answer right away but trust me, we will find someone who does.
5: Traffic is going to be a nightmare, so if you work (or know someone who does) in the surrounding area(mejier, costco, homedepot) tell them to get to work earlier then usual!

He's not joking. It's pretty scary people get that excited for a hardware store to open. Don't get me wrong, I am super excited, but NOT enough to stand in hour lines to get something I can get at Lowes.

Go to Dollar Tree where everything is $1. The only problem is the quantity keeps getting less and less for that dollar. If they sold condoms I'd really be in a bind!

Was not where Forest City or Krogers was. Company name was Advantage Logistics. They razed that building & built a whole new one for Menards.

Thanks.
That was corrected five weeks ago.
Since then I have made a bundle of new mistakes.

Saves parking expense and drama.

Saves gas.

Cuts the traffic stress.

See the sites of the city from a safe bus.

Eliminates vandalism and theft.

If you have to work in the city, it's a good choice until they start raiding the buses and doing that burning tire necklace thing.

Actually, Dusty, I was referring to people taking the bus to Wonderland Mall, then stealing a car and driving it back home to the hood.
