Harlan Sanders and Ali are the most recognized Ky citizens in the world. Lincoln's great. Nathan Stubblefield invented the Radio. Those are the top Kentuckians.

Meriwether Lewis was an American explorer, soldier, and public administrator, best known for his role as the leader of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
There was a show on the History Channel last night. They were investigating whether this guy was murdered or committed suicide...... |
The answer to this question is...
ME!! |
Meriwether was born in Virginia... though Lewis and Clark expedition started in Louisville, w/ KY boys... but so was War of 1812... and Mexican-American War...
Lewis and Clark... George Rogers Clark... Daniel Boone... William Henry Harrison... Chris Columbus... I kind of lump these guys in the same pile. I think, if you're white, you can think of them as going thru the jungle, hav'n to battle the elements, w/ the unknown frontier, w/ the "savage" Indians attack'n u wherever u go... but if you're Indian, then you think of them as invaders, as colonizers, whose on their land, whose bring'n the genocidal land steal'n barbaric European-Americans w/ them. I'm reading about Meriweather's suicide/murder closely right now http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meriwether_Lewis... . When Lewis and Clark comes up, I think about York, whose got a big statue downtown. York (Lewis and Clark's slave) ran away, and never came back. Or maybe he was killed. Who knows. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/York_ (explorer) |
It's good to like yourself... that's for sure. But you're avoid'n the question... or at least say WHY ur betta than, say, Nathan Stubblefield. He invented the Radio. That's amaz'n, and wonderful. |

Meriwether Lewis was murdered, I'm convinced. Who commits suicide w/ multiple gunshots? And he still lived, so how can one not get in a good head shot that would end it immediately, at point blank range? No... that doesn't make any sense. I'm convinced Meriwether was slayed:
"Undoubtedly Jefferson wrote in the light of all the evidence that had reached him in 1813, but it appears that his view of the case was far from being that of persons who lived in the vicinity of the scene at the time. That Governor Lewis did not die by his own hand, but was murdered and robbed, was common report at the time, as vouched by some persons still living...." Something u may like, while these Indian killers dont give me much pride, when I hear about Simon Kenton and Daniel Boone's end'n, I do think a bit differently... Simon Kenton died a poor drunken old man. So did Simon Girty... but Kenton didn't gain large tracts of land, as some of these Land speculators did (say Richard Henderson of Transylvania Company), and Daniel Boone would say he liked the Red folks better than the White folks. And now this! So Meriwether Lewis was murdered... by who! He was try'n to get some money from the War Dept... maybe an old score? Maybe York!?! Jefferson seemed to have concluded it a suicide... by why? If Meriwether is crawl'n away, that's not a man who wants to die... that's a man who got shot. |

lincoln was a horrid racist. he didnt believe anyone deserved to be a slave but also said some horrible things about black people

That's true, and the Emancipation Proclamation was a Military initiative, which really freed nobody. Reconstruction was when the freedom was supposed to come, and well, that was ended in 1877... and was a dismal failure. So Lincoln tried, but didn't succeed... him dy'n helped the nation to always remember him, but hurt the movement... same w/ MLK.
Regardless... u didn't answer the question. Who do u think is the greatest Kyian? One on this list... or somebody else? |

Judged: 1 larry flynt...j/k im not really sure... garret morgan was cool i guess |
Larry Flynt is a good one... he's a great Freedom of Speech advocate, from Magoffin County? I think...
Garrett Morgan was alright... but... the Greatest? I mean, the Greatest? I would have to land on... Abraham Lincoln. He was just a game changer all around. He represented the 2nd American Revolution, and I like how America is today... in terms of governance... also. I like him. His Homestead Land Policy should make any renter's mouth water. Just fill out an application, and you get 160 acres of free land. All you have to do, is take care of it, and it's yours free and clear after 5 years. Wow. Amazing. When we gonna do something like that. And where do I sign? |
I am impressed u even know Garrett Morgan... let alone admire him. Cool.
on being the greatest lincoln is hard to beat for sure. i mentioned morgan because think how something so simple as a traffic signal impacts so many peoples lives everyday all over the world. its pretty cool really |

http://www.topix.com/forum/louisville/T4RP5RH... Here's a thread where me and this other dude is argu'n about Garrett Morgan... as well as Nathan Stubblefield, who doesn't have a solid claim on Radio, even though he was the first to send and receive wireless transmission... what else would u call it?
