Company that reportedly gave OK to torch has controversial past
#1 Nov 5, 2012
I know several folks that used to work for CTEH and used to hold the company in very high regard. In recent years many of the employees that I had so much respect for have left. The last time I was on a job with them their staff consisted of a bunch of kids right out of school. I think losing their "A team" has really hurt their credibility.

I have no personal knowledge of the West Point, KY situation but am familiar with claims made during the BP response that alleged that CTEH was a "hired gun" finding only what they are paid to find and referring to issues with the previous projects referenced above (TVA, Chineese sheetrock, and the Katrina refinery spill). In each of those cases the claims were false and very misleading. for example, CTEH was not the company that EPA found to use inadequate QC, it was a subsequent consulting firm on the same project. Their work on BP, TVA, and The Katrina spill were overseen by multiple state and federal agencies and were not found substandard. Dont believe everything you read in an agenda driven internet blog.

Poor assessment of the situation is more like it. Don't get the torch out when highly flammable vapors are close by. Don't make a mountain out of a mole hill.

just a thought, but a simple look the MSDS for the chemicals, rest is history, event, after event, after event... end of story?
