As a virginian i am ashamed this is all we have to offer when it comes to hip hop. The only half decent rapper we have is T.I. It dosn't matter who's the king of the south, rap won't be taken seriously by middle america anytime soon if this is all we can come up with. We need to go back and study 90's rap, the true golden age, New York and G-Funk. Hip hop isn't dead but it's dying and the south is killing it.
cant argue with that

T.I ,Lil Wayne ,Jay-z and Mexico,
Sayin' their names like we talk bout SEXY co.
Scarface is the king of the south?
Like he's havin' some shit his mouth,
Tupac ,eminem ,Dre & snoop are better
Marshall Mathers's gotta his own new letter,
And it's more likely than that baby sitter,
Nowadays it's too hard to be an Mc,
SO these famous rappers gotta come and just see
the other young ones who got a talent wit a dream
and they're with poor with like they need an enzyme
But nothin' is wright as the way that it seems
Talkin' bout the south who's the red team
who's facin' the blue one who lives wit a theme
And all i need is a goddamn sponsor to meet!

I don't listen to too much rap. I can only go off of what catches my attention. That being said, my favorite rapper and my nominee for "King of the South" is Andre 3000. He ALWAYS makes me think. Not too many other southern rappers really make me think like that. Scarface is pretty good, what I've heard from him. Luda used to be tight. T.I. was okay at first. Lil Wayne is fun to listen to sometimes. He's overrated though. Old Devin the Dude stuff is sick. Big Boi is pretty cold sometimes, be he's always over shadowed by 3000.

Really no one else down there making my ears perk up.

Best southern rapper for me is Scarface. I especially loved his first two albums; "Mr. Scarface" and "The Diary".
