(I'm assuming you meant "peace", not "piece", but it was an interesting and possibly meaningful slip-up.)

I hope they get peace, yes. But I don't think there's any grounds for them winning their lawsuit. I pray for peace for the Walkers AND the coaches.

I realize that they lost their child and I do not even know how they can function. I think I would probably waste away to nothing. They are stronger people than I am. However, the coaches are not at fault in this. They did not cause this boys death, nor did they want him to pass away. If they had intentionally murdered him or were neglegent doctors it would be another story. This is only my opinion and I do not mean to get anyone upset. I will continue to pray for the Walkers everyday that they continue to be strong and that God helps them heal. God Belss them!

I haven't seen anything about this in quite a long time.

Last I remember seeing was the boy's autopsy showed no problems and the school system supporting the coaches.

I don't remember a child ever dying in the schools. Did the school ever do any type of investigation themselves? And if an investigation was done, then why was it not reported? I would think if an investigation was done and was favorable for the coaches, then it would have been reported.

Aren't there cameras in the schools? If there are, then the school should have saved all the events of the practice that it could. If not, then why not?

Things don't seem right. If I had a son with a normal heart that died, I would want to know why too.

I agree with the above posts. The coaches are great people and it is a shame that they are having to go through this. I feel so bad for the Walker family, I can not even begin to imagine how they feel, nor do I want to. But I know the coaches personally and I know that they lived for their players and it's a shame that they now have to go through this.

lalala, you're obviously trying to stir up trouble by digging up an old post like this, but at least explain what you're saying. What are these students supposedly saying? Everyone I've heard has said the coaches did everything they could.

I knew Keith Walker since he was a baby, and I was upset that he died like that. But was pretty disappointed to learn about the suit. The coaches do not have foresight, and no one imagines a boy who was barely in his teens just dropping dead like that. I know Meredith, too, and he certainly doesn't seem like the type to cover up something.

I understand the parent's pain, but suing isn't going to bring him back. IMO, it's bad for both parties.

I don't see how a school can be loose, and I don't see how a school can be video footage.

Apparently he had been complaining of his chest hurting.
even so

Even if that's true, a complaint of chest pain in a 13 year old could come from a long list of causes (muscle strain, exercise-induced asthma, or a virus, to name a few), and wouldn't be the same red flag it would be if he was older. It was tragic in these circumstances, but not indicative of wrongdoing on the coaches' part.

Would everyone please just respect the Walker's grief and let this post die on topix. Nothing is going to get settled on here so why not leave them alone. If you have never lost a child, you have no idea how much hurt they are feeling.

The newspaper article in todays paper sheds some new light on this tragic case. I have changed my opinion on the lawsuit now that I have read the facts.

The article sheds nothing more than opinions of a grieving families desire to find someone responsible for a tragic loss. Its sad that both The Gazette and the Walker family took part in this. The article borders on libel, insinuating that some sort of cover-up has taken place. Its a sad situation that I don't believe should be in the public's eye.

Well, it is in the public eye, and there were FACTS not just insinuations. How can you be so sure there isn't some kind of cover up ? Obviously someone is lieing about what happened prior to Keiths collapsing, students or staff, someone is not being honest.
