I find it curious that you don't just quote from them and give us a link to the book.

Read the secession documents of the southern states. They all say that their primary reason for rebelling against the Union was slavery.

The idea that slavery wasn't the main (though not sole) reason for the war is just apologetics by southern conservative.
I am curious also as how you think an alleged southern reason for secession was why Southerners fought in the war. The other problem with this is all those black men who fought for the Confederacy and all those black slave owners.

"Moreover, there were many black slave owners. On page 1 of Black Slaveowners: Free Black Slave Masters in South Carolina, 1790-1860 by Larry Koger we read,

“In Louisiana, Maryland, South Carolina, and Virginia, free blacks owned more than 10, 000 slaves, according to the federal census of 1830.”[30]

If the reader wants more detail into this census he can read Free Negro Owners of Slaves in the United States in 1830 by Carter Woodson.[31] He goes into great detail in the census, showing all the names of the slave owners and how many slaves they had. In the 1830 census the reader can also see the tens of thousands of free blacks in each state...

The Box,

Since the forcing of slavery upon the South against its will,

http://eternalpropositions.wo rdpress...ming-race-war/

http://eternalpropositions.wo rdpress...slave-traders/

much of the South's economy was necessarily tied up in slavery. That is not the controversy. The fact that they would secede to defend the right to maintain their economy is not the issue. The issue is why was the war fought? The real question is why the North invaded the South? Your fairy tale needs to prove that the reason Northerners invaded the South is because they had a strong moral inclination towards the well being of the black people and against their being used in such an economy. I have overwhelmingly proven that that was not the case.

what kills me is political correctness blind people to absolute truth...truth is blacks had black slaves in africa and sold them to westerners in exchange for outdated guns, black slaves had it better here than in their own country as slaves, we didnt bring blacks here with the intention of making them free, leaders knew civil rights would destroy america, they just played on the public's heart strings with bullcrap speeches...sorta like today with immigrants which is collapsing america yet again, now look at america...trillions is debt and millions of welfare leeches half of which ill bet dont need it, truth is truth...hate it for ya!

The fact is, that the South was making more money, and the Indians owned the Salt which became a national security factor. So, all this horse sh*t about slavery , which the Indians were sold into from North Carolina to France is actually what th govrnment /Politicians wanted us to believe. It was all about perception(The Civil War) The Union got what they wanted,Big Money prevails every time.Look who your top Coal producers are till today. Then think about the question.

Most people dont know the war was fought because the industrial north was overtaxing and i just cant believe most people think it was all about slavery when most of the slaves would be at plantations and those were few and far between.Com e on you people do you think everyone in the south had slaves and they would go to war to keep there slaves?Buy the way there were slaves in the north too.

Alleged reason? They said it explicitly.

The fact that there were a tiny amount of black slave owners who wanted to defend their wealth, and a small amount of black slaves forced into service does nothing to change that.

Yeah, because super cheap labor is fantastic.

The Confederacy was a treasonous group of rebels, and they attacked a union fort.
