That's terrible. No excuse for this. Probably went to pay enhanced pensions for unionized trash employees.

This is sickening.

People need to go to the council and complain. Prices should be rolled BACK to the 2000 level. Thats where salaries and home prices have returned to, so that is where services should be returned to.

Rates have not gone up in some time... just because of the value of ones home is less does not mean costs for services good down... good lord. I mean your mortgage amount is still the same - and you probably pay less in property taxes now. And back to 2000? Um, my current home is newer than this and has not dropped to the original sale price. And salary? Again, many differences. My wife doubled her salary with a new job back in 2007 and has had two 4% increases since then. I too started a new job a little over a year ago with a 12k increase and now on a salary increase freeze, but we are by far bringing in more money today than in 2000, not less. Salaries have not gone back to the 2000 level... come on now. We are hiring and hiring at rates since 2007 and my wifes co is hiring at current 09 levels and still get increases... good time to be in non-profit.... health care and quite frankly gov jobs too.

I am more concerned with the increasingly high water rates that just went up in July and are going up again early next year.

Must be nice to not be Economically effected during these hard times. I have had a 4% raise over the last 8 years, ya ½ percent a year. Are you going to tell I am making more money now than 8 years ago. Cause I gotta say it sure seems like I have a lot less money.

Normaly $3.00 a month would not have been that big of a deal. I would have bitched about it, but would get over it fast. But these times are different, they froze our raises, Cut overtime, and lowering our pay. So cost of living keeps going up and my wages remain frozen in time. Im getting pissed off.

CPI is dropping, real household income AND wealth is dropping, where do you get the conclusion that prices for services shouldn't be coming down along with everything else?

Just because you live in a fairyland bubble doesn't mean everyone else does too. CA unemployment is 12%(17-18% if you were to include discouraged workers and underemployed/part time). And its going to be worse next year too.

Most companies are NOT hiring, and in fact have been laying off, that's why the joblessness rate is increasing.

Next you'll be claiming up is down.

Okay, so prices aren't quite down to 2000 levels nominally, but they're actually far below if you factor in inflation. Here's a couple helpful graphs.

Here's the one that shows why prices should be down for all services: http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflatio...

Okay, so that zillow graph doesn't "sticky" the changes you make to it, so click on 10 year for the view. I was trying to get it to show the historical trend on the housing prices.

Just typing in livermore generates only houses for sale, so you could click on any of them, thats just the one i chose, seemed to be about the median price these days.

Thanks, Anon - I did not know you had a crystal ball. Go back to Mars please.

Wahhhh, deal with it cuz you can't do anything about it unless you move your lil as^ out of CA.

Perhaps people should not have been so greedy and the sense of entitlement attitude to begin with, Perhaps some peopl needed to knocked down a peg and unfortunaley many other folks have suffer because of that.

Loving my fairyland life, thanks!:)

Yah, well you're not immune to the macro problems in the economy, my smug little friend. Have fun with your plummeting home values, hope you aren't in an ARM.

Please, that's a good one, coming from a guy with your screen name. Does your parole officer know you're using a computer?

That's one thing wrong with Livermore, lots of trashy no-class people.

Speaking of taking out the trash, I wish Waste Management could clean up this thread, starting with RaiderFan here.

Unfortunately they are too busy lining their pockets with cushy retirement plans and strong-arming their municipal customers. The prices have gone up so much that I'm thinking the city is not saving us anything by letting WM have this contract.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Aries

Don't get embroiled in a bad-tempered skirmish today, for it might turn into more than that if you aren't careful. Everyone seems to be ratty and argumentative, but once you let the first spat take place it's effectively declaring open season. Even though things seem out-of-joint, keep your lines of communication open.
