2 And if any of you who agree or disagree want to voice your opinion, get off your butt and go to the meetings, too. There is a world outside of your keyboard and your voice is still way more powerful than your posts on this forum. |

1 I would be happy to hop on BART from Livermore for my trips out of OAK and SFO. P-town folks did not want BART either - now that they have it - going on two stops, they are happy... actually I was a P-town resident when BART first arrived there. Funny how many residents thought it would bring more crime, theft, rif-raf, etc... and walllaaah, all is fine in P-town with BART - in fact it has brought many more businesses there. Livermore will be just fine with the addition of BART (someday someday someday) and our roads will be less congested. I have been paying through my property taxes since 2000 for BART... sure would be nice to see it used as earmarked. |

I agree that we need BART in Livermore or at least the tax payers should get their money back. We have been paying for BART since the early 70's (If your a home owner).
They should have skipped building the other Dublin station and just went straight out here. I guess it has to do with laying more track. |

1. I'm all for BART. My point which I didn't make earlier was that it will never go downtown due to the high cost of leaving the 580 right of way. The reason I said it was insane was because a downtown BART station is a very urban thing which downtown Livermore is not.
2. Get Real, you sort of made my other point about these threads degenerarating. It doesn't take long for people to start insulting and denegrating each other. 3. Livermore Person is right - you can post here all you want but this forum is not really an instrument of change. See you all at the meetings. |

2 Livermore person- you're post is very stereotypical and full of prejudice and bias. Maybe yu choose tio ignore the many flaws of Livermore too. |

1 Difference is there are no residential areas immediately adjacent to the BART stops in Pleasanton and Dublin like there are in Livermore where they are proposing it. Where is your data to suggest there hasn't been an increase in crime? Do you have a link to a pin-type crime map for us to verify this claim? What about all the arrest BART police make at the stations? What about the criminals who travel into town on BART? What about the woman who was murdered in Lafayette after some thugs decided her stop was a good place for some mayhem? Actually there were two women murdered under the same circumstance. And how many robberies, muggings, rapes, etc are enabled in neighborhoods surrounding BART? BART to the Central Valley might be a good idea though. That's where all the traffic that clogs up 580 daily comes from, so why put the station in Livermore? Traffic doesn't come from here. Put it in the Central Valley to cut down on congestion. Why should Livermore be the way station for these out of town travelers? Shouldn't they be boarding in their own towns? What do we get from such an arrangement? |
||||
How would BART bring any business here? And why would it bring new residents? Where would they be moving here from just to catch BART? |

1 The union pukes have extorted so much money from the management that its impossible for BART to ever be efficient or a good value. You've got these potted plants that sit on the trains making $80K a year, more furniture that sits in the platform making as much or more, and management that gets paid like they were top brass at a major profitable tech company. It's disgusting. The system is also ugly, dirty, smelly, and frankly a real embarrassment, regionally. Part of that is because a sufficient portion of the ridership are basically animals, who have no respect for property (vandals) or manners (rude, maybe criminals), or hygiene(a lot of dirty bums and slovenly crazies). |
||||

Anon - what planet did you ocme from? BART is mostly ridden by commuters - business people. It is not very often that you see a bum on BART... you clearly do not commute on BART.. stop speaking out the side of your as* on these forums - you continue to do this.
|
||||
|
You're correct it is mostly commuters, but it also carries drunk revelers, sports fans, the homeless, gangsters, and anything else you find in society. That's why i said a sufficient percentage of these exist, enough to trash the system. BTW, I guess all those commuting business people must be real slobs, judging from the thousands of blobs of GUM littering the pavement in BART stations.

Anon - get a life, seriously...:) post after post AFTER post, ok really? funny, sad, but funny.
Go BART!!! so I don't have to be an out of town traveler to hop on BART... haha, Anon - you crack me up... people arrive AND depart from city to city - that is the whole point. |

I used to work in the city and I ALWAYS saw homeless on BART. I was also solicited for candy and massage oil every single day coming home. If BART were like European trains (clean, friendly, cheap, useful) I would like it. Unfortunately, I have been ripped off by BART too many times to want it to come to Livermore. However, I do understand that it would benefit many commuters.
|
||||
you can walk down about any street in any town or city and see the same thing.. so you must not take walks either.. do you drive around at night scared with your lights on inside your car? its better that drunks ride bart and not drive a car |

Most people who commute out of Livermore have the classic "last mile" problem which is that their destination is not near BART. And this is the problem for most public transit in this state because we don't have many urban centers with lots of employment: the vast bulk of our corporate jobs are in business parks built far from urban centers.
There's some convoluted extra steps you need to go through, take a bus or a shuttle or some crap. BART doesn't help you at all if you work anywhere in Silicon Valley or the Peninsula which is probably 80% of the jobs that Livermore people go to. Completely useless for most of us, unless we're going to the city. And frankly, that's what, a few times per year? The tiny percentage of Livermore residents who actually work in the city, sure, BART in Livermore might save them a few minutes a day, whatever the extra time it is to drive to the Dublin station. Big deal. Lots of hassle and huge costs for a small group of users. Not worth it. Now, BART in the Central Valley, makes a lot more sense, since most of the traffic on the freeway is from there. But really the biggest objection to BART is just that it sucks, its too expensive, its a bad deal. As a tax payer, you should be outraged. Its not as big a boondoggle as this stupid bullet train nobody will ever use, but its still pretty bad. |
