"Theft and violence driven by people who need money to buy drugs" Is he talking about pot? Does he really believe that? I have never met anybody that had to steal because they were out of pot. That is just plain stupid.. Vote YES on 19.

It's a hot-button issue locally, what with the Long Beach dispensary lottery - every of the 50-odd shops had to pay $15K in for a chance at a few spots, the 11 losers had to dismantle operations. Balls were hand-picked from a recycling bin instead of by a machine - a big chance for fraud to occur. I wonder if the losers will be able to sell off any equipment or merge with other collectives. I highly doubt it.

If the measure passes, pot will still be illegal federally, which would mean an increase of federal agents riding along with police officers on usual calls. Even though Calif. police officers cannot do anything on pot calls, the federal agents riding along would be able to make arrests. All of this action would mean greater expenses, including extradition to federal courts. Greater expenses would mean stiffer penalties, heavier fines or longer federal pen terms.

It needs to be legalized on the national level, not just the state level.
