I don't understand how the wedding reception deposit is a story, Bad journalism at its best.

I have a consumer watchdog question. I hired a photographer for my wedding (in 3 weeks). His photographs are beautiful and so far he has been helpful. However, I recently researched his name and found dozens of complaints about his business. Other clients said that he took years to get them their photos and some still did not have photos. Since it is too late to find a new photographer and I would lose $1,000 if we do not use this one, what should we do?
He also has complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau.

So is the point to this story that we don't have to take personal responsibility for the contracts we sign? Certainly this is not a watchdog worthy story.

Uhm....turning down trip insurance and then complaining to the newspaper about the "unfairness" of the cruise line's deposit policy is STUPIDITY and has nothing to do with taking care in reading a contract.
Those folks were cheap and now they're paying the prices.
