No mention of the Apple Harvest in Southington? Is that not a fair?

I am done with CT fairs. The greed exhibited by these fair managers is appalling. They charge outrageous fees to get in, over charge the vendors that MAKE THEIR FAIR WHAT IT IS, and just rake in the cash. It costs a few hundred dollars to attend a fair with a family. It's a wonder they can actually sleep at night.

With all the interesting and fun things to do at these fairs, it is tragic that so many of them feel the need to include animal tormenting as entertainment. Petting zoo? Elephant rides (you bet they're somewhere - Goshen, among other places)? Obscene cruelty, and we're teaching our kids that it's fine...stick with the harvest fairs and the midways. Baking contests. Something for everyone without harming a soul.

I agree 100% I am also done with CT fairs. The fair managers are money hungry. You can't even afford to bring a family to a town fair.. These were the fondest memories for me as a little girl and it's so sad my children can't experience the same thing !

Agree, at the price they charge, it is close to impossible to bring a family of four and be able to afford it.

They did forget a few:

Sept. 28-30 and Oct. 5-7 Apple Festival, Southington

Oct. 5-7 Berlin Fair

Oct. 6-7 Harwinton Fair

The fairs do charge too much and every year you get less and less. I did not see any barrel racing or real animal exhibits for my daughter this year. Just a bunch of low quality vendors selling junk. Next year we'll go to a zoo and a local working farm instead.
