Just wondering if anyone out in District 9 (California & Nevada) has been hired in the last month or so? I passed the written test and RJP but still waiting for a call, it's been a little over a month and I know it can take forever to hear back but it would be nice to know if AT&T is still hiring right now or if their waiting for a contract to get finalized with the union.

Thanks in advance!

My status has been "Awaiting HR Review" for 4 weeks on my Prem Tech application and 6 weeks for my Term Splicing application. I didn't realize there was another round of Interviews after the RJP

Oh, ya can't help ya with info on the LA area, you're probably fine though. Lots going on right now at ATT, contract negotiations, possible strike, and a huge hiring boom, they're probably just on hold for now. Don't stop looking for jobs though, its always a good idea to have a backup plan.

Thanks, I appreciate you replying. You said their in the midst of a hiring boom, did that just start? Lots of positions left to fill out here in LA?

I haven't yet been asked to take a drug test or physical, it's my understanding they only request that after they've contacted you and agreed to a tentative job offer.

So just as a headsup for you guys, I applied, maybe two days later I was called to come in and do the rjp/interview. After that, two days later I was called and asked if I wanted the job, then took the drug test the next day, the physical the next week. After that was waiting on the background check, which took a few weeks. Then they asked me todo orientation. Basically start to finish from the date applied to starting was about 6 weeks, but mine was unusually fast. I've heard people taking 6 months or longer. When I applied for a term splicer job a few years ago it was a lot longer, I didn't end up taking the job but was in the middle of the hiring process and it was longer than 6 weeks, more like a month before I heard from anyone after applying, then another month before hearing from anyone after I did the mech test ii. Anyways long story short, they are random and don't keep in touch with you at all during everything. It was extremely stressfull for me even for the 6 weeks because I never really knew if I was hired or not. This was all for prem tech by the way, something like term Splicer or term outside plant tech I'm sure take longer if you apply in the beginning when they post it. It seems they post the term jobs way in advance of the project, so they take their time during the process.

I had my RJP in late feb and my profile still says awaiting department review. I'm in the Knoxville, TN area, so I was wondering if anyone has been hired in the area or does this strike effect us as well?

I'm sure your ok, your in another district so our contract issue won't effect you at all. Just keep an eye on your application status on the AT&T Jobs website.

For those in the Midwest, there is no OPT job in contract instead the job is listed as Customer Services Specialist (CSS) and combines the titles of Construction Tech (CT) and Service Tech (ST)
This position does not set poles (sorry bill fl) but is the outside splicers job digging up buried splice or pole work to clean lines (remove bridge taps) to prepare for next uverse phase.
The pay scales range is from lowest $314.50 per week ($7.86 ) to Max $1404 (35.10) with auto raises every six months, like PT/WT most will start somewhere in middle around ($15 I would guess).
The current postings in our area do not claim this as a temp job but that may be an omission. The following is listing:

Our Customer Services Specialists connect, rearrange, maintain and repair AT&T services for our customers. What you'll do as an AT&T Customer Services Specialist:

Connect, repair and rearrange cable conductors Review and analyze prints, diagrams or schematic drawings Splice and waterproof coverings Repair and maintain outside plant facilities May climb ladders and poles Work outdoors in all kinds of weather

Our Customer Services Specialists must have the following:

Valid state drivers license Non-negligent driving record Meet 275lbs weight limit due to safety restrictions Ability to perceive differences in wire and cable colors Ability to lift and move up to 100lbs Satisfactory results from a background/employment history investigation and drug screening Qualify on pre-employment screening:

Pole climbing has been a blast. I was sent to North Carolina for class and will be here for 2 more weeks. It has been fun and the instructors are here to help you. They aren't looking to fail you only you can fail yourself. The best tip is take your time. It's not a race, if heights are a issue for you focus on the pole and your work. You won't go anywhere if your locked into the system right. I even tested it to give myself some peace of mind. I recommend everyone do that just so you develop trust in your equipment. The instructors did the same and told us we would be safe but for me, i needed to do it myself. Next week I have safety then VoIP / Inid I believe. If anyone has questions let me know :)

Got through my back ground check and I start April 19th. Now I gotta move from Illinois to Louisiana. Start pole climbing, shouldn't be that much trouble. Even though last time I did it was 11 years ago and we didn't use a buck squeeze.
