I see those crazy truck drivers roaring on 121 all the time. I know they could care less. This guy is simply a murderer. Most 18 wheeler driver,s know they can win the battle, they dont care. I was nearly hit twice returning from Shreveport last week. Whats the difference if your weapon is a gun or truck.......the penalty should be the same. MUDERERS!!!!!!!!!!

Shouldn't the article above state that the truck hit the woman's car? The truck driver needs a nice long prison sentence.

Not all! But some semi's drivers use their trucks like a tank to bully their way down the highway. They complain about being tailgated when they are the worst in the world at tailgating and get away with it.

The woman killed was a friend of mine and it is a terrible situation. At the same time, the driver that hit her was only 20 years old. She was a Christian woman and she would have wanted us to forgive the boy rather than harp on him. We all make mistakes at 20 years old...unfortunately, his took the life of another person. He will live with that the rest of his life. Please remember this when you discuss this issue.

20? Driving an 18 wheeler?
Minimum allowed age is 21.

If that is the case, than the person that allowed a 20 year old to drive for his company should face charges.

I thought it strange but I checked the Texas CDL requirements and found this:

"What are the eligibility requirements to obtain a Texas CDL?
1. You must be 21 years old.(18 years if all commercial driving is done within Texas and if no hazardous materials requiring placarding are transported and if you do not drive double or triple trailer rigs)."
http://www.cdl-course.com/faq-tx.html

So, I guess it isn't wasn't anything illegal.
I have always heard it said CDL's were only for people over 21. I guess if it's driving within the state only that it is allowed.

And stupidity is allowed if you're only 20? He should have / could have been more responsible.

I wasn't talking about the drivers stupidity. I was making an observation regarding the minimum age to get a CDL in Texas.
Sometimes the lights change too fast for a truck driver to be able to stop in time to avoid a collision.
An 18 wheeler takes a lot longer and a longer distance to come to a full stop.

There are not enough details regarding this accident to put blame solely on the truck driver.
They (all parties involved) are going thru the details of the crash very very carefully.

You are full of it! Actually the driver is my ex, as well as my sons FATHER! He is 28 yrs old, not 20! You should really get your facts straight before you start spreading rumors that ARE NOT TRUE!!! I am NOT by any means defending "the driver", he was in the wrong & it is horrible for this girl & her family as well as her unborn child. You being a "friend" of hers supposedly, should really be there for the family, & not spread BS that you obviously know NOTHING about!

Hmm, look what i found
In a lawsuit filed Tuesday Armani Carter and his three children are suing truck driver, Jeremy Davidson, his employer Keel Trucking, and two other hauling companies.
Attorneys for the Carter family claim Davidson should never have been hired. "He was 20-years-old and had three prior problems on his driving record," says Rasansky. "He should not have been behind the wheel driving on the day of the accident."

The suit also claims the truck Davidson was driving had faulty brakes and the company failed to ensure it was fit for the roadway. "We have an epidemic of companies not taking responsibility for placing on the road truck drivers who are inexperienced, who have no business driving, really nothing more than, 80,000 pound missiles," Rasansky said.

probably not your ex stang

She is correct the story tim is talking about happend in NOv 06. The guy was 28 that hit the teacher. Not 20 but still he should be held accountable for his actions wether it being faulty equipment or just reckless driving. Please get these big trucks off of these small roads like Virginia and Custer (were the reck took place)

most of these trucking places will not hire unless they are at least 23. they put the drivers in place for responsiblity of checking out the truck before they drive it. The trucking companies are always hiring, and a lot of drivers are the risky type of people who like to live on the edge anyway, they are types who smoke and drink often and are very sleep-deprived people anyway.

This is what I know from dealing with trucker by working for a company with scales I've seen trucks come in weighng over 120000 most drivers are push from big company to make pick-ups at a certain time or lose jobs A close friend was training for a large company driving with a mentor after seeing the mentor push cars tail the cars to close nearly 4 wrecks he took a bus ticket home to find a job

an accident is a truck drivers worst nightmare, more so when he or she is at fault. But to call us murderers is childish and stupid. Do you want to know how often I have to brake when a 4 wheeler decides to pull in front of me? Look, there are bad drivers in trucks and cars. But the dot hold us up to a higher standard. I feel for the lady and the truck driver. It is a trajedy all around.
