From my limited perspective it seems the ultimate sacrifice of Pvt Allers was tragically in vain. His commanding officer says they will honor the fallen by completing their mission in Afgan. It is time to question the mission. No one seems to know anymore just what the critical mission is in Afgan which means so much to the freedom and security of the USA that it requires the continual drain of American citizen-soldiers. Nation-building is worthy, but not worth the death of one US citizen. The Taliban are local insurgents who present no threat the the US. Al Queda have been soundly thumped in Afgan. Now is the time to throw our massive resources into better ways of combating World Terrorism. My deepest sympathies to the families of the fallen.
