It wasn't a tornado. It was Granholm passing through, attempting to blow us away, one way or another.
She must have been in my backyard too. Someone blew over my kids Fisher Price basketball hoop.

Overall it seems like a pretty weak effort to blow me away.(we are still talking about Granholm right?)

I just love a good storm, as long as no one gets hurt.

I am sure glad to read “no injuries” and pleased to read of a neighbor helping out in this time of need. Seeing the trailer knocked over, I would guess about 90MPH wind (20Lbs/Ft^2). I can’t estimate for the tractor, that is something I’ve never seen. But, if the experts say F1, I guess that’s all it took.

Regardless, if you’re building a barn, I would strongly recommend 30lb/ft^2 wind loading. This would handle a 110mph wind. Oklahoma has a more constant wind, but I see no reason not to build for 110MPH winds there in Michigan. That would handle an F1.

God never gives us more than we can handle. I wish I had time to help them rebuild.

I agree. To feel the power and chaos is a strange feeling but addictive. Allegan gets all the fun weather wise.

Yeah, Allegan does seem to get more than up here by GR. I agree with the storm and the power/chaos thing but a good thunderstorm does more than that to me, although this isn't the place to talk about it ;-).

I agree, I am a total addict when it comes to this kind of weather. I will watch it all night.
Are you sure you didn't fire up the drag car? LOL
Hee hee...No, that would have woke the hubby. He sleeps right through those fantastic storms though. I almost ran next door to sit on their covered front porch!

I remember being at Ferris when I was little, and standing out in the yard and watching a tornado go by and hit one of the business offices on campus. They are fantastic to see from a distance. I think I would be scared out of my wits if it were close though.

Wow, that's so cool. I would love to see a tornado someday. At a distance of course and as long as no one was hurt.

Mr. Neecer says the power flashed last night sometime. The coffee pot and the microwave were the only clocks in the house blinking (figures.. had to be the coffee pot huh?).

Oh, and we're about 10 miles (tops) from Plainwell.. I never heard a darn thing!

Now.. the storm of 98 on the other hand... I woke to my second floor apartment shaking when the HUGE oak tree not far from the building snapped. Didn't sleep for a while after that. Never mind the fact that I was preggers with my oldest.. and lost power..

“OH what fun!!”

98 was bad, we had just purchased a home and had not moved in yet and had to go cut up HUGE trees that were uprooted and laying in the back yard. Two were so close we were surprised they did not take out the second story of the house!! We got luck, both our homes were completely in tack!!
