Freedom of speech on the post which pissed off the kid. No body pushed him off the bridge though. So no charges

We don't know if his parents, family and friends were aware of his being gay. Having found out via an unlawful taping posted on the web, and TOUTED by the perpetrators (terrorists that they are) to others to watch...it may have been too much for him. He was a creative person by virtue of violin playing, artistic if you will and the sensitivity of artistic/creative folks is known.
If his roommate actually thought he was "cool" why would he do such a thing as to videotape, let alone post it and THEN advertise the posting. Methinks there was animosity, hate crime for sure...if nothing else, depraved indifference. What kind of person doesn't care about another human being's feeling to do all that?

So if someone secretly videotaped you in a locker room shower and streamed it over the web then that too would be considered Freedom of speech under your definition.

Being a parent, and grandparent....I would like to see these 2 children held responsible for their actions. Exactly what would the charges be? At the very least, I would think, they should be charged with passing out pornographic material. They mentioned invasion of privacy. But I don't think that's enough. These 2 children have to live the rest of their lives, knowing they caused a wonderful young man enough emotional pain to kill himself. He paid the ultimate price, for something they did. I sure they didn't intend for that to happen. But it did. You can't imprison some one for causing emotional pain. If you could, my ex husband would be in for life. What ever happens, these 2 need to pay. Pay should include a lot of probation, and a lot of travel (at their expense) around the country, and a lot of talking to schools, churches, and civic organizations. They should tell of what they did, the results of their actions, and what they have (or will have learned).

Invasion of privacy? Yes. Hate crime and murder? No. The kid took his own life. i'm sure the parents are distraught knowing thier not being accepting of his lifestyle led to his decision.

I will include myself with your statement. The only perfect being in this universe is God. Right now God is upstairs in the office.

Freedom of speech crosses the line when it is used as a lethal weapon

Unfortunately all these two will get is an invasion of privacy charge and I'm sure the judge will hand down the full sentence. I believe it to be 5 years. In prison they will get to be someones bitch for sure.

The family should sue these two for wrongful death. I believe they would have little problem winning given the circumstances.

Yes it can, because being gay is a choice.

But that being said, what these two did was criminal. They should be held responsible for their actions.

You may not agree with the way people live. I respect that. Your perspective regarding individuals of alternate lifestyles is your opinion and it is your right. I'm not going to campaign for you to accept different sexual orientations. I do ask that you please respect people as gods children. Humanity need not feed hate with preconceptions and prejudices.

Everyone is responsible for their acts and these ADULTS should be held to the standard that anyone else would be. They violated this person's privacy and streamed it over the internet. I don't know how much more needs to be done before MALICIOUS INTENT is proved. I think their actions would be described as depraved indiffernce. Meaning regardless of the fact he killed himself, they streamed a video of this person in their most private momement. I know I would describe their actions as "so wanton, so deficient in a moral sense of concern, so lacking in regard for the life or lives of others, and so blameworthy as to warrant the same criminal liability as that which the law imposes upon a person who intentionally causes a crime.

They may have not intended to kill him but their actions show they had no care or interest in the his welfare.
