Who's covering my increasing health care costs and benefits?

I AM !!!!!!!

Fire 'em all. Plenty of people that would be satisfied with 1/2 of what they are getting.

You make a valid point given today's economy.

To me, a STRIKE means there is "no" contract. Am I correct? If so.... perfect! Time to start from scratch. No more big time pensions that we can not afford....go to a 401K ASAP. Cut the pay by 20%. This is a win/win in today's economy and is an honest and fair conclusion.

Watch the politicians behind these negotiations folks.... Remember these Union folks vote these guys in so they in turn get the pay they ask for.

There are plenty of workers sitting in the union hall all day that would love to work for the already negotiated rate.

The fact that they are asking for a 5% raise for the next three years is reprehensible in this economy.

They should tear up the contract and start all over again. Now is the time to stand up to the unions that have been out of control for many years.

The contractors can hire from a pool of 14 million illegals who will work for half the pay, to hell with the outdated industry crushing unions.

I am pro-union. Stand up to these dishonest employers. You are doing the right thing.

Do not allow corporate greed to stand in the way of your family's needs. Never.

You have my support, brothers.

The union is asking for a 5% increase and they already have 40% unemployed and collecting unemployment benefits.

The greed is one-sided right now, and it's sitting on the union's side.

Their greed has taken this state to undesirable financial depths.

Hire nonunion. Get the union out so we can actually get something done.

You are pretty outnumbered here. Unions are outdated...only breeding greed.

Facts are facts: unemployment at all time high, many would do the work for far less - what business owner would pass that up? Not going to happen. Nice try, but really...the timing is way off.

I know too many electricians, carpenters, etc. been out of work for 2 years now. These union guys must be joking! Not going to happen, just not. End of story.

EMPLOY NON-UNION....SAVE MONEY!!!
Help on the way

I love it when the middle to lower class public bashes unions these days. The middle class has become extinct and you clowns on these posts act as if these union workers are at fault. You clowns probably still sign your kids up to fight in this phony war on terror and then expect me to feel sorry when they come home in a bag. Same stupid people that got in line for the H1N1 shots. Americans are being fleeced and their children sacraficed in a profit based phony war on terror. You same people get worked up over some union worker taking profit from contractors that payoff politicians for sweet contracts paid by our tax dollars. America is getting what it deserves. When the people stopping chewing on their own legs we might turn this around.

I love it, more power to the Unions. I hope they get 10% raises every year, no use in letting some scumbag executives take more "bonus's". To all you assholes that say cut their pay in half etc. how would you feel if your company did that ? Im glad they chose to strike when they did, they hold ALL the cards now LOL. UNION YES

Have you been reading what has been going on in the economy or just attending your union meetings like a good puppy should. <lol There are over 15 MILLION people out of work and nearly 15 MILLION illegals working in this country today. Most companies have cut pay, bonusus and/or gone under. Foreclosures are at a high and we have a socialist spending wildly in the White House. There's your update..... Now tell your Bubba boy laborors and their union to take a hike.....

Anti-union is anti-American. Any of you here who disagree are simply falling for the BS corporations have fed you. Without strong unions you'll go back to child labor, 12 hour days, and low wages. Study your history, not freakin' Fox.

You are an idiot. I'd like to take you, and tie you down. Then take a nice blow torch, and stick it down your throat, and turn it on. Then you know, leave it there for 30 seconds. You know, just enough to get the "party started!"

F_CK YOU, you piece of shit. I hope you are executed.

The economy is doing fine if you listen to the news reports, foreclosures are down, unemployment is down and the job market is improving everyday. I dont listen to the news propaganda, I know people are hurting. The reality is the companies doing the work are GUARANTEED their fees, it has already been negotiated at a set price, the companies have already taken this into account when they look at workers wages when they bid. If the workers take no raises will their companies give back some money since their costs will be lower ? NO ! The greedy executives and politicians will laugh as they just make more money.

Also sorry, im not Union but I do support them. I am a non-union manager at a company who has Union workers, the company came to us (management) a year ago and said due to the economy they will have to cut OUR pay 12% and they will also seek similar cuts from the Union (so basically dont worry everyone is getting the cuts). Well the Union workers rejected a proposal of a 10% cut even though the company FORCED a 12% cut on management. So here we are 9 months later since we took our cuts (management)and the company has made 80 million in profits in 3 quarters. When the subject came up in a conference call that management was forced with the cut and we are still profitable maybe the cuts can be reversed or lessened, the answer was "not at this time" which means we will not get our pay back. So our Union work force is still making "contract" rates while we took the shaft....I do not blame the Union for what they did, I applaud them. Since our cuts went through the top executives have not taken any cuts what so ever, so lead by example I guess, right ? Sure. We do not forget the fact the top 25 executives have access to a company jet and a 2000 acre company owned hunting lodge while we take the shaft everyday, we did it for the company. Sure. Over the last 6 months I have seen some of the best people we have leave for other companies, corporate does not care. Im going for my 2nd interview at a competing company on Monday (pretty much a lock at this point).

I have 25 Union guys who work under my supervision and they will do anything to get the job done, even "bend" some Union work rules, they know the rules go both ways. When someone needs a day off and they are out of sick leave etc. I will let them have a day off without repercussions, when someone is a few minutes late but called to let me know, I look the other way. My guys will do what needs to be done to get the job done and keep the customer happy. At the end of the day we all go to work for the same reason, MONEY. How long would you keep showing up to work if the company stopped paying you ? How long would the company keep paying you if you stopped showing up to work ? Bottom line is its all about money...both ways.

Well, you could have just reduced the entire paragraph to read, "I am a huge dumba$$. I support other people screwing me out of money. I am pro-union, even though they take raises while I get none."

RomeoHitman, you are like one of those little poosies that did the shootings at columbine high school. A ball less wonder. Perhaps someone will execute you.

Daily Horoscope for February 5

Taurus

You may need to take a break from certain people or circumstances today; this could be a short term decision for some Bulls while for others there may be long term consequences. If you find yourself at odds with either individuals or groups, ask yourself where you really stand over attitudes and values. Is there a growing rift or just intermediate tension you can ride out? If you remain calm it will be easier to make decisions.
