Anyone know when Fox's Pizza on 143rd is supposed to open? I've always liked the Oak Lawn location and am looking forward to it!

An Irish Pizza place?????? Sorry I have to disagree Fox's in Oaklawn is awful. It's a good place to throw back a few beers but the pizza is dog food. Beggars is one of the decent pizza places I have found in Plainfield

Beggar's is the best pizza in town, without question.

I love Fox's Pizza. It's one of the best thin crust pizza's in the country. They're gonna do a huge business here, assuming they ever open. LOL Vito and Nick's is good, but I like Fox's better.

Ummmm... Fox's is ok, not great but ok. Beggar's is about as good as Fox's. Vita Bella is better then both. However in reality all of them are sub-par vs south eastish side pizza where nearly every corner has a great pizza place that is open late.

Best in the area was Lombardos Best in Chicago was Unos pre franchise era (1970's) Still looking forward to Fox's---At least to see what the foxy servers are wearing.

Vita Bella is worse than fox's and Beggars IMHO. I'm not saying Beggars is great, just the best of a sub par lot. the best thin crust pizza i've ever had was Villa Nova in Stickney. I hope fox's makes it because we don't need another failed empty building. To say they are going to do huge business is a huge stretch in this economy. It's not the best time to open a pizza place unless you are a dumpy chain offering pizza for 5 bucks

The question was "Anyone know when Fox's Pizza on 143rd is supposed to open?" NOT "What is your favorite pizza".

They started putting up drywall today 8/3.That means all rough ins have passed inspection .Give em 3 days for drywall 3 days for tape 3 days for paint a few for ceiling a few for accessories then there's all the bar stuff and final punch list so lets guess that they will open before Labor Day. The entrance island from Rt. 30 was discussed last night and approved by the board .

Did you see Trustee voted against Fox's Pub? I caught the tail end of it as I was flipping through the channels. What is his problem? Does he not want ANYTHING in Plainfield? I bet he had something to do with Portillos going to Shorewood instead of here!

I think that the Trustee took heed to the Village Administrator when he said that the $25,000 requested would basically drain the Village budget. The Village needs business to rebuild it's depressed cofers---selling pizzas is one way to get tax money from businesses not us tax payers. Sure wish we could have snagged Portillos.Maybe then my favorite hot dog place(Babes) would still be in business.

JohnnyCakes had it 100% correct about Villa Nova in Stickney. I am 30 and spent my 1st 25 years eating their pizza. Since moving to Plainfield in 2005, I have been more than disappointed with the pizza out here. I actually drive 45 min each way to get pizza from Villa Nova. I have had pizza at every place in Plainfield, and yet to find anything I would even call ok. I hope Fox's can give the residents some better pizza around here.

Lisa I just made the drive tonight, went with the double dough. LOL Anytime you want to split a pie you let me know. Fox's isn't going to give the residents anything better. It really is awful. Maybe trustee Fay just has some good taste. lol All kidding aside if Plainfield is looking to Pizza to rebuild it's depressed cofers we are doomed. Why don't we just bring in a strip joint and make some real money?

Well,It looks like I was wrong.Foxes didn't make my prediction of opening by Labor Day---Hoping for a Holloween party now?

I agree with whoever said we don't need another empty building in town. Unless their pies have changed, I still think it's awesome. As far as the best pie in the Chicago area, youz are all missing the big name. Pat's pizza in the city. If you aint had it, you need to. Never had the Villa Nova, but even the name makes it sound good. I'm talking thin crust pizza. I don't like Pizza Hut, Domino,or Little Chezeray's, I won't eat it.I also don't care for the other joint on 30 that moved into a bigger space recently. I forgot the name. Anyway, I was by Fox's yesterday, they aren't even close yet from what I saw. I think there are a lot of transplanted Sout Siders over here by Plainfield now. That's the reason I think they'll do a huge business. However, whoever pointed out that I didn't take the economy into consideration is spot on. I get all warm n fuzzy thinking about Fox's pie the way I recall it. If it's too pricey though, I won't be there much. Never had Beggar's, it's a chain joint, no?
Anyway, the coffee joint in that little mall closed down again. Who needs 2 to 4 buck coffee? Not moi! I feel bad for the little guys that try to make it, but I think you have to really study your demographic before opening a joint anywhere these days! I hope things get better, but man, they sure feel cruddy.
Best to all
Sammy
PS..how can we battle when we're talking about pizza? It's impossible!

Beggar's is chain like Home Run Inn is a chain. It's a local pizza place who has franchised. It's actually based on the south side (Blue Island) and is a more well known south side haunt than fox's. Most people in Plainfield have never heard of either I disagree that there are a lot of transplanted south siders. If this were Frankfort or New lenox I would agree. Sure there are some south siders in Plainfield but there are more transplants from the western burbs(Cicero, Berwyn, Darien, Downers Grove. etc). I would be willing to wager they won't do a huge business. It isn't the economic climate to do huge business, especially on over priced pizzas. they have to contend with aurelio's dinner buffet and drive up window. The food isn't very good but the price is right for many. Nobody wants to see empty buildings but at some point we need a real business in one of them.

Jcakes, Aurellio's is the place I was talking about.Years ago, when they first opened on 75th in Naperville, the pies were very good. The latest version of the pies are not to my liking at all. I don't care if it's cheap or not. I'll pay up for a good pie when the mood strikes. Otherwise, we make em at home, which is really the best option anyway. My wife makes a killer dough. In any event, between Fox's Aurellio's, and of course RoSal's, that's a lot of Italian food in a rather small area. RoSal's beef is killer good, and the pie is pretty damn good too. Here's to hoping they can all survive and do well!
