Brilliant statement from a typical union hack who refuses to accept the blame for the current financial crisis. Let me explain something very simple, we can no longer afford any new taxes to try and support individuals who by simply joining a union expect outrageous benefits from cradle to grave.
Now ask yourself how is it possible that countries around the world can crank out kids who know more by the time they are in (the equivalent) of sixth grade then an American kid does after 4 years of college.
How can that be?
We spend more per pupil then anywhere else on earth. In fact in places like Washington DC and Detroit they spend more per pupil then it costs to go to college.
I can tell you why.
Because that money goes to the greedy teachers unions who fight tooth and nail to stop anyone from holding them accountable and they fight everything that might actually improve the state of education in this country because it might cut into their exorbitant contracts and *GASP!* it just might mean they lose their jobs because they are incompetent.

Rashid this is why we need to eliminate unions As if Detroit doesn't have enough problems these days, the president of the city's school board offered the shocking admission that he can't pen a coherent sentence.

Otis Mathis, who oversees the academic future of 90,000 public school students, told the Detroit News that he's a "horrible writer" after reports surfaced that he sent a Feb. 29 e-mail to the financial manager of Detroit Public Schools that was rife with spelling, punctuation and usage errors.

WAKE UP PLAINFIELD, LOOK WHO IS REALLY GETTING RICH OFF OF "YOUR" TAX DOLLARS! YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY! You need to take action, this is ridiculous they make so much money & yet they can't keep others employed, they are GREEDY! They all deserve to be FIRED themselves for allowing this or even accepting these kinds of ridiculous pay raises when the distrcit is sooooo broke! I don't have the figures of newer Asst. Superintendents that where recently hired, Darlene Von Behren is one of them & I'm sure she makes just the same as the rest of them. The current BOE should be dismantled for agreeing to these raises!

Look, lets put all BS aside. Illinois is the best place to work if your in education. Salary, Pension and working conditions are above average for most.

However, for every 1 percent of pay we expect a senior teacher to give back the "Top Doc" needs to match with 5 percent minimum.

This of course could have the "Top Doc" say "Pack sand, I'm gone".

However, Mrs. Crabtree will likely be at school tomorrow and continue to teach Alfalfa, Buckwheat, Spanky and Darla how to read.

Maybe a year or two of sweating it with no "TOP DOC", won't be the end of the human race.

Mr. Harper, no disrespect or blame intended, the Salary is ridiculous. However, if I thought I could get it from my employer, I'd already have it.

I think we that tax payers have had enough! There is a Board of Education meeting this Monday Aug. 16th at the Administration Office on Howard St & Rt. 30 @ 6:30. Last week they held a special session regarding the budget, they are paying $1 million dollars of OUR hard earned money for this! Instead of just posting comments, show up at the meeting & express your concerns, I think I will! I heard that Harper gets paid for every sick day he doesn't take & that's 100 sick days people! I also heard that he got paid approx $98k for not taking a vacation, he gets his SUV paid for with our Tax dollars. I know for sure al of the Admin. get their cell phones paid for using OUR tax $$$, I read it in one of the board notes on the web-site..www.psd202.org....Ch eck it out! This is nuts, this is our $$$$ & it's being spent on them!!!

I'm sorry, I left out what the $1 million is being wasted on...unemployment!!! The Admin. only have to pay 10% of their health insurance, this is all on the web-site.

Illinois owes approx. 140 billion dollars to the state pension fund. Do the teachers or any other union members really expect the state to address this deficit via the taxpayers. It is financially impossible, it time these free loading union morons face reality and look for a plan B.
