I live in Plainfield and heard from a few neighbors that Nick's Cozy Corner closed down effective this past Sunday. I just called now and there was no answer.
Can anyone confirm this?

I just called again and Nick himself answered. He said that they have indeed closed the restaurant. I'm so sorry to see this happen. The place was clean with good food and the people were nice. Good luck to Nick and his family in the future. This is a terible loss for our little town. This economy is a nightmare.
Again, best of luck to Nick and family going forward.

I can't believe that. Why did they close? That was one of the FEW good places to sit down and eat in Plainfield.

bella bistro-no loss- that place was crap...terrible service, get your own coffee and they didn't have decaf on hand for last afternoon stops. the owner was constantly talking and chatting.
as far as Nick's ...Plainfield is screwed. I hope he posts his french toast recipe somewhere or I'll go through withdrawl.

I'm I the only one who thought this place was over-rated? The food was so so at best, and it was over priced. Not that I wish anyone to fail, but I'm not surprised. Plainfield wake up, you need good food at reasonable prices! In the mean time, if I don't cook it at home, I'll drive for it.

Ok, I have a new place for breakfast. Granted, it's a lot further south on 59, but oh boy, is it great. It's called Crispy Waffle on 59 in Shorewood. Tried it today for the first time and I was mega impressed.
I had an omlette with cheese n bacon that came with spicy hash browns that were heavenly. It also came with a side of two pancakes which might be the tastiest I have had in years. 7.35 for all that.
I miss Nicks, but I needed to find a new joint stat, I did. The place is huge, the service fast, and oh, the coffee is great too. Highly reco'd. BTW, take Drauden down to Theodor to avoid the disaster called 59!
I still feel terrible that Nick's is gone, it feels like we lost part of the family. That sucks!

Go to the one on Weber Road (between Airport/Lockport St. and Renwick Rd.). It's a little closer to Plainfield, and you can avoid 59 altogether.

Nicks was a great restaurant. I am really sad to see it close. One of the few great family restaurants where the owners were always present, friendly, etc. The wait staff were awesome and the food was wonderful. I do not think it was overpriced at all - homecooked good food - not some chain microwaved crap. This is a huge loss and I am really sad. I hope they end up with another restaurant someday - I will certainly miss going there!

I agree with Buddy Mister. That place (Crispy Waffle) is too die for!!! It's always packed when we go there in the mornings, so the hostess and the host are a little short with people. But other than that the food is wonderful and I haven't had any problems with the waitstaff.

Why did Nick's close? Great food/great service. I already miss the cheesy beef and multitude of great breakfast items. Is it going to reopen with a new owner?

I was wondering the same thing. So far, none of the "guts" of the place has been removed from what I can see. Also, fwiw, there's a Micro Brewery going in at the south end of the strip mall. Limestone Brewery. Inside design looks great. They were supposed to open in Feb, but that didn't happen. Maybe that's why Nick left, I really don't know???

Sounds like Nick's is gone because of a disagreement with the landlord. Doesn't sound like there is anyone to help keep him in Plainfield and he may reopen in a nearby community. Just another vacancy.
