Saw a video on TV last night of one of our legislators and why he's against tougher DWI laws. He said 'How would you feel if that person were one of your relatives?'(or very close to that).

Pretty much explains where the problem is huh and his concern for the public in general? Typical NM legislative arrogance!

The majority of legislators don't want it to be them being breath tested.

It's interesting that they can spend a lot of time on "resolutions" and minor issues but don't have the guts to tackle the really pressing issues. They just table them and they die.

Somebody should have asked this dipshitt legislator how he would feel if the next person to be killed by a drunk driver were one of his relatives?

This is how the do it every session, introduce all manner of bills, some good, some stupid, and a lot of resolutions and memorials, then complain that an important bill (to the public) didn't pass because there was not enough time left to hear it properly. Longer sessions won't make it better, they'd simply draw it out longer and longer. Pay them instead of per diem, same thing. Until the core makeup of the legislature is changed, their arrogance and disdain for the public will remain.

I remember a educator I think it was a number of years ago giving the legislature grief when they'd taken a school class to SF to see the legislature in session, and all the legislature did was laugh, joke and have fun for the day. That's all the kids came away from the session with.

That was the 2nd thing that entered my mind when I saw the clip. The 1st was the arrogant smirk the AH had on his face when he said it. Made me wonder how many in his family had DWI's.
