According to HLS, the NM ID or Driver's License won't fly. To get a resident GED the state requires a NM ID or a NM state ID. Nothing else, including Birth Certificate or Passport will trump that. Now we learn that the feds won't let you fly on it. The date is January 15th is all you have is a NM state ID or DL. Something is upside down here and not catching up.

Sorry, must have gotten my GED in Nevada. Should read that if you only have a NM ID or NM DL, you won't be able to board an airline in NM. Maybe Nevada will let you. Look up state requirements for residency. You need either a NM ID or NM DL (so they can make their money, one would assume), and they won't accept an official Birth Certificate or US Passport in place of the NM issued ID. You can get your GED in NM with the state issued ID, but you also can't fly out of NM with it. Makes sense. Guess they want NM High School graduates only leaving the state.

Another article that gives more facts. Law since 2005. We have gotten extensions since. May also impact access to National Labs, Federal bldgs etc. Wonder if that would involve Social Security Administration. Am sure we will get a pass.

Not only will you be unable to board a plane but you won't be able to enter any federal facility that requires ID, like the Fed courthouse for instance.

May the RealID act be upon us at last, and may it be painful and wreck havoc upon us all. We asked for it, now we get it. Had we followed the law initially this would not be an issue, but we didn't, we were arrogant, stubborn, and now it is about to bite us in the butt. We can thank the vermin who have done their best to sidestep and ignore it, but it has now caught up to us and finally the feds(HLS) are prepared to not allow any more extensions. And we can thank ourselves too for electing and reelecting these same vermin to office year after year.

In a statement, Democratic Senator Tom Udall said he's been working closely with Homeland Security.

He expects the deadline to once again be extended, or to implement different screening procedures to ensure air travel is not disrupted.

{Hmm...seriously? Why should New Mexico be an exception? What is wrong with...oh...illegals...that's how Tom Udall got elected...nevermind...}

And don't it beat all. On NMPED they give the ID's needed to take the GED and you have everything including passports for the first 2 series of proofs for identity...but for the last on Residency you have only two choices from MVD: NM ID or NMDL. They trump your Passport with place of birth and the official NM Birth Certificate. Now that is what I call a bureaucratic tag team between Education and MVD. So many fail to graduate and have to take the GED that maybe they feel the extra money to MVD will help. After all they have a huge pool out there.

The basic reason that our NMDLs won't be accepted as valid ID is because we allow ILLEGALS to have NMDL's. Because the person with one MAY not be a legal US citizen. Some will say that is not so and they know not what they speak of. That is the PRIMARY reason why (not the sole one), and Udall is part of the same plate of BS political vote oriented scheme. I hope he's unsuccessful in his lame attempt and that for once Napolitano sticks to her word and does not allow any more extensions.

Use all the negative JudgeIts you want trolls but they do not take away from the facts of how/why we are in non-compliance with the RealID act!

Hopefully all the morons that keep voting in these same leaders in New Mexico that are too stupid to figure this out find on Jan 15 they cannot get into an air port or federal buildings.

We finaly got rid of one of our absolutly worthless New Mexico politicians that backed the DL policy down here (Mary Jane Garcia). Guess the 75% on New Mexican's against giving NMDLs to illegals got the final word in her case.

They will find passports are expensive and you cannot get them immediately.

It also requires effort to get them.

Already have them for myself and my family. Saw this coming a long time ago.

Time for the New Mexico resident to take it up the a** thanks to their moron leaders and that worthless POS Bill Richardson.

It's the same old crew of has-been 18th century polits that have this state screwed up. They go all the way from the US Senators and 2/3rds of the Congressmen to the nut cases in the roundhouse. The voters can't seem to see the need to get rid of them and they continue to plague us. I hope that the next legislature gets its act together, but that hope is like spitting in the wind.

My guess is that HLS will cave. They really have no intention of disenfranchising voters. Why worry about planes or borders.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least that she caves in, but I'm hoping her word is goos<yeah, right!> and she'll stick with what she said a couple months ago - no more extensions.

As long as they keep to voters poor, they keep them dependent upon the government, be it local, state or federal. And when 1 in 4 is in some form of subsidy(handout) in NM things won't change. NONE of our politicians want the people to actually think for themselves, particularly those of the Dependacrats! NM history bears this out.

Problem here is their votes are intentional, as is their stubbornness, arrogance and complete disdain for what they are subjecting the rest of this country to. They simply do not give a shit. And they know that as long as they give all the entitlements they do to those who are undeserving as well as deserving, they'll get reelected. There is no incentive for them to toe the line. It all hinges now on what Napolitano does, whether she keeps her word to not renew or not.

NO MORE REALID EXTENSIONS!!!

Agree,

Democratic leadership and the hand out mentality in New Mexico has made the state last or near the last in many categories:

1. Education
2. Per Capita income
3. Teen out of wed lock briths per capita
4. Higest high school drop out rate

Made us first or near the top in many other areas:

1. Higest drug use
2. Highest taxes
3. Most state workers per captia
4. More voter fraud (Sunland park helped that cause)
5. Highest state debt per captia
6. Highest uninsured motorist
7. Highest number of population with health care insurance

The New Mexico senate and house prefer ignorant voters that they can "buy" with things for free. It keeps them in office.

Correct item #7 to without health insurance.

#1 industry in New Mexico is public assistance.

You know guys/gals, if you don't like it here leave -- whining and bitching daily about where you live and who those of us who like it here are just makes you look like whining little bitches. Just losers trying to make up for their loss with a bunch of noise and BS. Those of us who vote and seemingly control the State are perfectly happy with our choices. You lost big time in Nov. and continue to on a daily basis thanks to our legislature and until that POS Gov. is gone. We can then elect a reasonable (read that non-bought and paid for pimp for big business) Democratic candidate and throw the likes of her and hopefully you, out on your as-. so, just pack your shi- and head to TX -- adios, bueno by.

dpb's imagination far exceeds his ability to grasp the facts.

And leave it to him to tell others to run away, just like he escapes with his drug use because he's too chickenshit to face life and reality.

I note how entities are coming out of the woodwork looking for money now that the state ~may~ have some $200mil excess$ available. And we all know the legislature's view is "There shall be no excess, it shall ALL be spent!". More entitlement social program spending is on the horizon, more handouts, less hand-ups. The crux of the Dependacratic party.

cd is simply an old, has-been chronic alcoholic whining and bitching daily looking for recognition at the end of a worthless/useless life. He calls compassion and taking care of our State "entitlements'-- Well AH, yes they are -- The States' residents are "entitled" to them -- Don't like our system -- Go to TX/AZ where you can live happily ever after. LMFAO at your pathetic wimpering.
