Link didn't work, here's a portion. The accusation wasn't against the developer. This entire thing is about some turtles.

In May 2005, Sierra Properties applied for a Clean Water Act (“CWA”) permit pursuant to CWA
section 404.(See Intervenors’ Mem.[8-4] at 3.) On October 31, 2005, the Corps issued a public
notice regarding CCTC’s proposed filling of approximately 54 acres of wetlands and 10 acres of
surface waters with 270,418 cubic yards of fill material.(See Compl.¶ 82.) At that time, a
public comment period began wherein extensive comments were made regarding the
environmental impact of the CCTC development.(See id.¶¶ 84–87.) Following the comment
period, on May 15, 2007, the Corps issued an Environmental Assessment finding that CCTC
would not cause unacceptable environmental impacts and issued the requested section 404
permit allowing development of CCTC to proceed.(See id.¶ 88; Environmental Assessment,
Ex. A to Intervenors’ Mem.[8-4].)
On October 1, 2007, plaintiffs filed suit in this Court against federal defendants alleging
improper issuance of the CWA section 404 permit and an improper concurrence letter issued by
the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (“FWS”) stating that CCTC would not adversely
impact four endangered species, the Wood Stork, the Florida Scrub Jay, the Eastern Indigo
Snake, and the Manatee.(See Compl.¶¶ 1, 4.) Plaintiffs’ complaint asks this court to find that
the section 404 permit was issued in violation of the Endangered Species Act, the CWA, the
National Environmental Policy Act (“NEPA”), the Administrative Procedure Act, and their

Who in the eff are YOU to judge ME?

I like animals!! So effing what!!! I do not hunt either, BTW. Why are taking my words out of context?

Loving and appreciating life and all living things doesn't make anyone a false prophet, or evil, or whatever else you want to call me.

I am a nature photographer and I have a deep appreciation for Gods creations.....ALL of them!!

How dare you compare me to Ms. Newkirk!!!

Those who would kill animals for no good reason, or for a "contest" is insult to God and what he created and placed on this planet!

My comparison was to point out that any number of anything or ANYONE who dies before their time, is too many. I would not condone a human killing contest either!

I would appreciate it if you would not compare me to ARA's or PETA. Most in that group do not have any concern for animal welfare. They are mostly about human control. I am not.

Offer a mixed seed or sunflower in a tube feeder or on the ground (and a bird bath) and you could get Painted Buntings, and other cool birds that winter in Florida.

<quoted text>In the winters, from 2007 to 2010, we were visited by a flock of lovebirds. We figured they were the feral offspring of a pair which had escaped from someone's home, and were awed by the fact that they stayed around from January to April, even though the otherwise vacant house next door to us is home to a feral cat colony of fairly epic proportions.(The city won't let us take potshots at the damn things, and threatened to fine us for taking the dead ones out of the traps they set once...long story.)
The first winter, after we noticed the lovebirds were coming back every day, we put out tropical bird mix and took oodles of pictures. The next winter, we prepared for them and were rewarded by their return, although there were several more in the flock than the previous year, and it cost us an arm and a leg to feed them. We were also visited by a few more neighborhood birds than we cared to feed - mostly the 'garbage birds' which aren't any fun to watch, and can't sing a lick. But, we got a bunch more pictures.
The last year, we were overrun by starlings, grackles, jays, and squirrels, the woman who owns the lot next door cut down all the fruit trees which had graced that yard, and the feral cat population had doubled in size. The lovebirds left early, and haven't returned.
:(
It is fun having "unusual" birds visit. I once had a Budgie show up and stayed for about 4 days before disappearing.

I hear ya about the starlings and grackles. I personally don't mind having grackles. If there are too many, I simply stop feeding for a while. I like grackles, I just can't afford them.:) They do make some very interesting sounds...even if they don't have a spectacular "song."

Starlings are an alien species. You can kill them anytime.

I'm surprised they would leave dead cats in a trap. Isn't that a health hazard? I trap and remove all cats because they are non-native.

I had a friend who got overrun by squirrels. She's like me though. She didn't mind, other than it just gets expensive. She counted 17 one day. Is it any coincidence that the day after she counted them, she was looking out the window when a Red-tailed Hawk showed up and took one of them away.:)

Have you ever asked yourself why those shopping centers are empty?
Sometimes because of government regulations it’s more effective to abandon and rebuild another center. Start a renovation and you must bring the entire project up to current code. Goofy little politicians write that code even though they have no clue.
Regulations possibly is one of the reasons.

The other possible reason is too many stores. In some places there are 2 Meijers, 2 Targets, 2 Walmarts and 2 Kmarts all within three miles of each other. Add all the strip malls and other shopping centers in between and with those stores and my God, how much shopping can people do?

It's no wonder everyone is so damn broke and losing their homes!

I see nothing wrong with wanting to defend creatures that can't defend themselves, especially IF they are rare and need THAT particular area to survive.

If it meant life or death of humans, that would be different. But a mall isn't life or death. There are other places to put a mall.

But admittedly, I dn't know anything about that area or the project to make an "informed" opinion. I'm just going by what I've seen happen here, and it isn't good.
