I remember them now...they were orginally the ones to put a metal band into strings...

Most violins only have 4 strings, GDAE. But if you add a C string for CGDAE, then you can get those deep rich notes on the big fat C string. Of course it also makes you want to play tunes in C-major and A-minor which is just fine. I like this guy, he has a very nice touch.
