How About It, Albuquerque? How Does Albuquerque, New Mexico in general feel about the proposed Assault Weapons Ban of 2013?

This is not about gun control, it is about government control of the people! Executive orders are not Constitutional and neither is any abuse of the 2nd Amendment. An armed man is a citizen, an unarmed man is a slave.

no - a real citizen needs no such thing unless they are weakminded.

One thing that people with Concealed Carry Permits should know if the weapon they are licensed to carry is a semi-automatic pistol with a detachable magazine. Your semi-auto pistol WILL be classifed just as it as a MACHINE-GUN, and be covered by the National Firearms Act. Which means, in addition to any license fees you pay to New Mexico, YOU WILl have to pay $200. to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; you will need to be photographed and fingerprinted by BATFE and submit to a thorough criminal AND MEDICAL background checks (hey, that means you RETIRED POLICE OFFICERS, and veterans/disabled veterans that have ever been diagnosed as suffering from Depression, PTSD,etc. and if you've ever been diagnosed as having ADHD as well); last, and MOST FUN OF ALL, since your pistol will be treated just as a machine gun, you will need to SURRENDER YOUR 4TH AMENDMENT RIGHTS and allow the BATFE to check your home at any hour of the day or night to see that the weapon(s) is/are there, and YOU MAY NOT TAKE THE WEAPON OUT OF YOUR HOME to travel out of your jurisdiction without FIRST submitting an itinerary to the BATFE which THEY MUST APPROVE. It used to take 3-4 months in the old days, but now WITH MILLIONS OF NEW FOLKS REGISTERED WITH BATFE, you can probably expect to have to submit your itinerary at least 1 year in advance. Ain't this fun, kiddies? Best of all, the BATFE will have everyone's firearms' info on hand, type, caliber, serial number, etc., so that when the next public shooting occurs, they can all say: "Aw, shucks. It didn't work. We put the American people on probation and they failed miserably" and then they can just come and take your firearms exactly as they did in places like Fidel Castro's Cuba.("Armas para que'?" literally, "Weapons for what?"- i.e., "Who needs firearms?")

Better a gun in your hand and a perp on the ground than a cop on the phone!

If Obama and his stooges can't figure out how to ID and deport 11 million ILLEGALS using all their forces, how do they figure to cope with 1000 million newly criminalized citizens guilty of LEGALLY buying a LEGAL firearm in the past ?

When the bozos get rid of illegals and jail all the criminals then maybe citizens could believe they can be safe. Till then, forget it.

The discussion of what, if any, additional gun legislation is needed is far from over.

But that has not deterred ready-fire-aim Feinstein from drafting a bill. She is the congressional equivalent of an ambulance chaser...using the tragedy of others to advance her political resume.

But, in the meantime, I have no doubt that gun and ammo sales are going off the chart. At least some industry is seeing economic recovery.

Once again, the NRA and their trolls are domestic terrorists. Ban all assault style weapons, all mega mags and armor piercing ammo. Regulate gun show sales, enforce back ground checks and halt the sale of all fire arms and ammo over the inter net. Increase the tax on ammunition and fire arms. All fire arm users must be licensed and pass yearly re-certification on each fire arm they own. And, yes, you must register all guns. Get over it, it's the "well-regulated" part of the 2nd amendment that needs equal enforcement. Let's see you support that.

They wouldn't need to. They would just need to make a few well publicized examples and that might frighten the rest of Americans into complying. That's how the IRS works its magic.

The BATFE is going to have their hands really full.
They'll probably fix the unemployment problem just by hiring all the people they will need at the FBI for background and medical checks and all the people at the ATF they will need to handle the regulation and enforcement. Trickle-down government employees.

Better a gun in the hand and a perp on the ground than a cop on the phone! Quit day dreaming and live in the real world. I'll give up my guns just as soon as they can show me that all the criminals and kooks have given up theirs!

Hackneyed troll talk. I live in the real world. I don't need to carry a gun. I'm happy, safe and sane. You should try it. Paranoia will destroy ya. And the NRA is in the business of selling fear.

Well, maybe President Obama is considering the executive order thing because he knows he won't have enough votes in the house of representatives to carry the day for Senator Feinstein. When I hear politicians talk about executive orders I get nervous. We have a Congress and we can flood them with emails and electronic messages to get our point across. You can't do that with an executive order!

Cliches. Another example of NRA talking points. Gun control means 20 innocent children don't get slaughtered by a madman. I bet he was using both hands.

When Obama gives up the Secret Service Presidential Protection Detail, the big shots fire their body guards, and the police feel safe enough to quit carrying firearms then MAYBE I'll feel safe enough to give up mine. BTW, even though the policed are "to protect and serve" they can't protect you; they carry firearms to protect themselves, not you. In 99 percent of the cases they arrive at the crime scene after the crime, not in time to prevent it. Criminals do not like to get in gun fights with armed people, so they don't attack police, they choose "gun free zones" where they know no one is armed to do their dirty work. This is the reason concealed carry has reduced crime in areas where it is available and crime in places with strict gun control laws and prohibitions on concealed carry, like Chicago, have the highest crime rates. Countries which have confiscated guns have seen millions of citizens killed by their governments in the last century. That is the real world. This is the reason for the 2nd Amendment. If you choose not to carry a gun or own one, that is your choice, but you don't have the right to force your views on others.
