It's pretty much the fault of the Chamber of Commerce. The vaunted Jeb Bush miricale in Florida (the basis for Skankdera's scheme) has pretty much been debunked as cooking the books. Here, buy our program for x millions of dollars and you can have what Fla. had. Propaganda and bull shat. Get politics and business out of education. And the moralist.

Then why sex ed?

They certainly don't teach the right and wrong about it...unless of course there is no right and wrong?

Get politics out of education? They are mostly government schools. Like keeping prayer out of a church. Good understanding of the system.

The "...right and wrong..." of it are simply your moralistic judgment calls. Actually sex between consenting adults is their business, and no one has the right to tell them how they will act in a sexuall situation. Keep your fkg twisted morality out of others' bed rooms you judgmetnal, bigoted POS.

We're talking about sex ed with students here...not adults...

The point is there is NO "right or wrong" about it -- Just your moral judgment based upon a fairy tale.

What are you talking about? You did see the post that started this with the importance of sex ed to make students brighter...or something to that end? Obviously little need to find an excuse for flaming...

Hence the proof of why NM's graduation rate and vocab levels are at the bottom...

wait a minute, most female students leave school and general education because of pregnancy. There is a need for an honest word to ALL students as to how to avoid pregnancy. No sex. Simple solution, but who's listening? more suggestions needed, no joke.

More guidance from parents...when the media basically babysits the kids and they hear those voices more...

It isn't more suggestions...it is turning off the TV or switching it to some wholesome shows and same with music...

Your idea of sex ed is that they are teaching them to do the deed. Didn't you learn Anatomy & Physiology in school? Were you not taught the correct terminology for your body parts? How about the endocrine system? All of that is what sex ed is. Does it talk about what happens when a girl menstruates, ovulates, yes. I have a niece that is in 6th grade, and she has "SEX ED" classes, but you know it gives her a better understanding of her body. Please don't tell me that it is the parents responsibility. I don't care who says that they talk to their children about sex, they don't! Majority consider it taboo, or are themselves embarrassed, or don't have the knowledge to explain the facts. Not just don't do it or you'll get pregnant, save yourself for marriage. Wear a condom mijo, you don't want to be a daddy.

So, give the cite for why most students drop out of school and we have an abysmal graduation record. Mostly female and pregnant? Please cite your source or just state it as an opinion only...

Yes, it's a politcal football. Every bloc has something to gain by pushing this program or cutting that one. Education is tough enough without some politician using it as leverage for his or her next re-election bid. And the only thing the media cares about are scandals and sport scores.

opinion????NOT EVEN...THE TRUTH. I live in NM. I'm painfully aware of the educational system that includes Native Americans, blacks, hispanics mostly Mexicans like me.Edu cation is deficit for many and teachers must do their part. Citation? why not look it up yourself. The need and joy of education must stay awake.

{Sigh} It's working really well...that's why abortion is needed as choice...that this plan works so well...

That's like showing a teen a gun...giving them a concealed weapon carry...and some hollow point bullets...

Okay mijo...remember you never know when you might need to win an argument...

And we do give teens a gun...it is called the military. Unfortunately they can't do the same in civilian life as they aren't old enough, unless they are on the battlefield. And hollow points are considered against the Geneva Conventions.
