Wegmans has made what it says is its, "last, best and final offer" to employees in the local Teamsters Local 118 Union. The offer comes in the course of tense contract negotiations between the company and the union.

Wegmans says the final proposal will give full-time employees an immediate $1,000 lump sum payment, along with an 18 percent pay raise over six years. Addressing the biggest issue in the contract negotiations, Wegmans says it will also include a company-based retirement package in place of the union's current retirement fund.

A timeline for the union to make a decision on the offer still hasn't been set.

You know its not good enough for the Union Workers. They always want more.

Wegman's will still be burden with the cost of all the drivers who have retired. I have an aquaintance who retired to Florida after 30 years of driving for Wegmans. I was shocked at the numbers he recited on a monthly basis. He is living the good life with a house on the Gulf, boat, and tennis every day. Must be nice...I am jealous!!!

Maybe if they go on strike, the food will not get delivered and we will have less food recalls to worry about??
Less free day old food Wegmans will have to give away to city folk and city churches. I work at one of the Wegmans stores and we have carts full of food that is picked up on the loading dock.

I am one of those Kodak retirees. Minimal impact other than losing the company subsidy for medical insurance. MVP and other insurance companies bent over backwards last year to sign everybody up. Anybody holding Kodak stock got hosed. They deserve it as anybody with half a brain could see it coming. KRIP is alive and well. Pereze, unsuccesfuly tried to tap it. Sorry it is controlled by MONY an outside company.

Its Kodak workers like you and all you big pay checks, bonuses, and retirements, that helped make it go out of business.
The times of some stupid under-educated person getting big checks and retirements for doing little to nothing are over.
Kodak was known for hiring folks with education ... it seemed like you needed a 4 year degree just to run the copier.

And their bonuses were always based on the profit of the company.

It was management and lack of staying ahead of the market that killed Kodak ... nothing more.

Jealousy will get you no where. For your information, I was envolved with a leading edge technology that produced consumer products for the least cost and maximum profit for the company. I supported the equipment 24x7 and worked many all night sessions without a break. I earned every penny and provided for my own retirement. We didn't have a union to cover our butts and were held accountable for our own actions.

Exactly!! For those of us that worked in the service industry at Kodak, we had excellent customer service skills that are hard to find today!!

They think they can not be replaced? In this job market there are 5 waiting for every job. They probably could get drivers for half what the Union drivers get now at Wegmans plus just a 401K. If Wegmans wants to remain competitive they must cut cost. Labor is a big factor. The Union dummies do not get it. The competition does not have Union Drivers and warehouse workers. As it is the Union drivers sit on their ass in the store lounge while they store help that is paid a quarter of what they make unloads the trucks. Waste of money and time. The store help could be loading shelves and helping customers. The Rochester Teamsters leadership are crooks. Nothing but gangsters.
