Couldn't bring up the story on my browser. But this is terrible. We shouldn't have homeless people in America, but unfortunately we do. The garage isn't obligated to house the homeless, but there are fewer options. This hits close to home because I often see these people at the mission and the churches I volunteer at. See they can give these refugees a nice warm place to stay but they can't give Americans any shelter! That's kind of backwards if you ask me!

Obviously you don't park in the garage.

It smells like pee, the bums are slobs that leave food, empty bottles and other trash all over, some are mentality ill and aggressive -- it is a bad situation for people that PAY to park there. When I have to wake up a bum to go home (that's sleeping to close to my car to move it safely), it's time for them to go. This happens frequently.

As far as I'm concerned, they have absolutely no right to use the garage. It's private property and should be maintained for the users.

I encourage and support controlled access.

If you back over a couple, it would send a message. Just a suggestion.

Oh Gee Benny now you did it, not only will we have to listen to RePig telling all of us about all the things he(Rhonda) does for the needy, but now we will have to listen to his(Rhonda) screaming about how great the SW is over and over again.

My mistake. I forgot that we would get the usual diatribe trying to convince us that the South Wedge was better than the burbs. We both know he knows better.

Wrong, it is NOT private property, it belongs to either the city or the county, thus the name CIVIC Center. It is only managed by a private company MAPCO.

homeless have been living down there for many years. sad situation its a very rough life especially in the winter. maybe we should offer them bus tickets to Florida when the cold comes, that would be the cheapest solution. most of these folks have some degree of mental illness, maybe assist them in getting ss disabilty or something.

Who is going to pay for Florida bus tickets? Give then disability? Taxpayers. Screw the homeless, let them get jobs like the rest of us. Most of them are capable of working, they choose not to.

And MAPCO, the company that manages the space and pays rent, choose to lock them out for the benefit of their customers. Good for MAPCO. Kudos. Great decision on their part. Keep the garage bum free.

I don't have to explain my living surroundings to a suburban resident who makes prejudice assumptions about the city.

Pigpen, either contribute to the topic or don't comment at all. I wouldn't expect you to even get on the same page of my contributions. After all, your kind (the jews) are very selfish and is always screaming about where every penny goes. You're no exception.

Hey, I'm in the garage right now, with the AC adapter for my laptop clipped onto a car battery, grabbing public WiFi, to tell you that most of us have PTSD. We deserve disability. You should send me to Florida in the winter. I hate you guys, I'm outta here.

No I don't park in the garage because I don't work downtown. But that's no different from what I see at the mission and the churches that walk in. We don't see "pee, bums, and trash" we see people in need.

Well, I guess the glass is half empty. Most of us smell pee and see trash. I suppose you're used to it.

Why dont some of those do goody protestors just take some of those homeless back to their houses or apartment for the night so they can sleep there..... and pee in the corner of their room, and leave garbage and empty booze and beer cans and bottles on their floor? and harrass their kids and neighbors for money?

It probably wouldn't be an imposition on African-Americans. They live like that anyway. Just another guy livin' there.

They could make him a lookout for their drug dealing. Viet Nam vets make the best lookouts.

It's about time that MAPCO finally gets around to controlling the derelict problem in the Civil Center garage. We've been complaining about the stink, trash and slow moving targets for years.

Glad to see they are taking action with operation "Bum's Rush". Now they should clean it, and spray a little Fabreeze around. Thank you, MAPCO.

Exactly! It's one of the biggest problems about living Downtown. We have a couple of pests that ask for money every time you go outside.
