Mallory, I can't speak for anyone else, but I read it from the dateline down to the last word. Again, I can't (and shouldn't) speak for any one else, but I think when most of us read something like this where it says things like "State workers didn't tell police why the children were taken, police Sgt. John Harris said" we tend wonder WHY would state workers not confide AT LEAST in the police?
"Kate Bernyk, said she would not comment on any specific case" WHY not comment? If no comment, why not a discloser of why those kids were taken? Does the public, that provides the tax dollars so that "Kate" can get her paycheck not deserve to know whats going on?
"Court officials said the matter is sealed" Why is the matter sealed? Remember that deal in Texas some time ago where DCYS came in and rounded up, I don't know 30? 35? kids under 16 and claimed something or other about the kids being used for sexual reasons? Remember that? Texas, as I recall released a statement immediately. So what gives with N.J.? Why the hush-hush on this?
N.J. needs to charge the parents, or return their children! Until then, No matter how you slice it up, it still smells like last weeks fish to me.
Oh, and another thing while I'm at it....DCYS case workers in N.J. AND ALL OTHER STATES (and I sincerely hope some of you are reading this) need to be aware of the possible long term psychological affects when they go yanking children out of their homes and especially away from their parents. I think N.J. damn well better come up with a good reason for their actions.
Fran - There are laws strictly forbidding disclosure. Why? To protect the children. I work in the Mental Health Field as a Therapist. If for some reason, Police come to a facility, I am obligated, by law, NOT to disclose ANY information.

As to psychological affects, I have seen the affects of NOT yanking children when it is called for.

Have you ever had to work with children from abusive families?

Speak with one if you ever get a chance.

Ask them their opinion before you spout off such nonsense.

What about when they're old enough to start school? I know if my children had classmates with these names, I probably wouldn't let them go over to their house to play, go to birthday parties, etc. I would have serious doubts about the values of their parents and what my children might be exposed to at their house. These two must have hated their children. What possible explanation could they have for doing this to their babies? Are they proud of this?
Mallory, mallory, mallory.........please tell me you kidding! OK, at least tell me I'm misunderstanding! Are you sincerely saying that you would determine who your kids should or should not associate with is based on their name? Would it not serve a better purpose for YOU to go to that home prior to your childs visit and check it out for yourself?

What if little Jeffery from down the street want to play with your little boy? Would that be ok, or would you be worried that your boy would be killed and cannibalized as with Jeffery Dahmer?

You can have a great person with a rotten name. You can have a rotten person with a great name.......Bottom line is it's not the name....it's the person. It's not the cover of the book, it's what's inside.

Hey, have a nice day :o)

Are you some sort of conspiracy freak?

We don't take children from homes because we feel like it. It takes the involvement of a Judge, Social Workers, and serious abuse charges.

All social workers have training in childhood development. They know, far better than you it seems, when to pull the plug on parents who sexually, physically, and emotionally abuse their children.

Or do you condone that sort of thing?

Who knows, maybe you're a NAMBLA rights type of person.

Hold up here a minute Carl! When were these parents declared "stupid or ignorant"? I didn't see any claim of that in the news article.

With regard to what you said about "Point being... We in America, have an implied right to be complete idiots... But some people tend to abuse that right..." I agree, and I'm glad to see that you didn't exclude yourself.

With regard to the other 98% of your post, you are so far off topic not even N.O.R.A.D. would be able to track you, therefore, I say to you 'no further ATC is available, radar service is terminated, frequency change to unicom is approved.

There have been numerous reports of DSS personnel abusing their power in the news lately...I have seen it myself in my work as a mental health professional. Sometimes DSS workers think they know it all...Quote "far better than you when to pull the plug"..when they don't know much more than what they read in books....book learning and college degrees do not necessarily guarantee that a worker is not letting personal opinions sway their judgment...case in point...Texas.

DapperDave, your response to “Joseph” is incomprehensible. If you were in my class (staring Jan. 20), I would have the college to ban you from taking further classes on the campus. You seem psychotic; but I am sure that you have heard that before.

NYoasas-Thanks very much, but I knew that. I also know that the laws to which you refer INCLUDE withholding of the child's name, NOT publicizing first, middle, AND LAST name of each child!

Furthermore, a statement from the agency that is bringing the allegation as to why it is being brought does not compromise the safety or welfare of said child/children, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE ALREADY IN SO-CALLED PROTECTIVE CUSTODY by their agency.

"As to psychological affects, I have seen the affects of NOT yanking children when it is called for." I'm sure you have. And I'm sure that there are plenty of cases (unfortunately) removal of a child/children. Now, would you care to repost with the affects of the opposite as I originally addressed, or would you prefer to just keep that hidden? To clarify, what are the affects of taking them when it is later determined that it was an unnecessary action?

Have I ever had to work with children from abusive families? No, I haven't. It is not my chosen field. And no, I'm not going to go searching for a family with problems and intrude on their privacy to accommodate your suggestion. I have more respect than that.

And, last but not least, if you think my post was such "nonsense" I wonder what would compel you to reply? Why not just move on to another posting? Why not just find another poster that meets your level of intelligence?

Maybe someday what has happened to the Campbells will happen to you with your own child/children. I'm not wishing it on you, but would be interested in what your posting will say then.

I agree. The kind of attitude exhibited by NYoases is the type that results in children being snatched because the social worker went to school..and now knows more than anybody..and , of course, is always right. The psychological effect on the family unjustly accused and run through the system does as much damage...in some cases more...than that caused by a justifiable reason for removal. I also find it rather suspicious that the children's names were released..but the justification for the removal seems a mystery.

Emerald, thank you. Not for agreeing with me, but for having common sense. Yep, once they go to school, study all the pat scenarios in their $500 text books, and graduate, they become the ultimate authority. Then they secure a position with the state that gives them authority and if one of those text book situations comes up, the kids are taken. I don't intend to infer here that if a child is in danger; truly in danger that they shouldn't be removed and protected, but for God sake, it's so hypocritical to release those children's names, and in the next breath refuse to state why they were removed. I have a real problem with 'secret' government.
