Based on what has been reported in The Berkshire Eagle, both men performed well in their responsibilities to the bank.
So why did Mr. Stracuzzi and Mr. Nilan resign, and why did fellow boardmembers agree to accept those resignations?

Stracuzzi knew what he did back in 2004 and 2005. Hard to believe Nilan didn't know what Stracuzzi did back in 2004 and 2005 given his position in the Probation Department. Correct me if I'm wrong but there really isn't any evidence the rest of the credit union board knew what happened. That in and of itself would be enough, it seems to me, for the board to get rid of both of them. Can people with that kind of fiduciary responsibility let that sort of thing go on? I know if I was on a board and found out five years after the fact the CEO and a board member were playing those kinds of games, even if they didn't directly bear on the dealings of the corporation itself, they'd be gone or I'd be gone and dropping a dime to the Eagle, Gazette and Springfield paper. My hunch is most, or all. of the rest of the board was kept in the dark precisely because Nilan and Stracuzzi knew what would happen if this story came to light.

Excellent points.
But one correction: Had you 'dropp(ed) a dime to The Eagle', the newspaper would do exactly as it is doing now.
Meaning: your allegations would never see newsprint because The Eagle would cover for local sacred cows and the local power structure.
The Eagle has yet to learn that it does not control the flow of news to Berkshire County.
Thank goodness for the Internet!

The Gazette is NEVER interesting.

The Gazette is self-absorbed with delusions of relevance (just like Dan Valenti).

I don't understand people like you (Topix-Moron) that makes stuff up. It was a 24 year old MAN that was SHOVED.

You are just completely making stuff up. Why? I mean what is lacking in your life that you must fill the void with not just speculation, but creation of things that did not happen?

You're pathetic.

Who mislead you to believe that it was a 24-year-old man who was involved in an incident in Biddeford, Maine in July 2004 with Angelo Stracuzzi?
Your information does not comport with the data on file at the York County Superior Courthouse and at the Biddeford Police both of whose computer records show there were two separate incidents involving two underage males approximately 15 and 13 years old.
If you doubt me, contact the Maine court house.
The two criminal docket numbers are 04-2288; and 05-194: State of Maine v. Angelo Stracuzzi.

The post "age of offended" replied to is gone. Why does the eagle insist on trying to cover up the age of the victims? It's really disgusting. If I solicited a minor for sex they'd blast my name and the victims age all over the front page. I will never advertise with or by this P.O.S paper again. F u eagle and shame on you and all your reporters. When some poor sap wants a baby and fills a turkey bastor with her brothers semen you're all over it. Scumbags!

If Angelo or Carm or Jimmy R was drunkenly wielding the turkey baster, it never would have made the paper.

The Gazette is the ONLY publication in Berkshire County that tells the truth about this gang of criminals and writes honest editorial opinion. Jonathan doesn't do what he's told by the ruberto gang, he prints the truth. You must be one of the followers of the devil, er, ruberto. I also am wondering why, if these two "gentlemen" did nothing wrong and were doing their job well, why resign? The s**t is about to hit the proverbial fan, I believe.

Jimmy Is their a article in the Gazette today? I cancelled my Eagle subcription . I like reading a paper with my coffee so I need to get a subscription somewhere. You know another thing I don't understand? How come none of the local news stations are not picking up on this? Where is Sabrina Dhammi? She is usually on this stuff

You can depend on Alan Chartock's WAMC News Department to cover this story five ways thru Sunday.
Oh wait, the thrice-annual 'beg-a-thon' is starting Monday, so forget getting anyone at WAMC to do anything but beg for money.

. Just say this:
According to York County Superior Court records, Biddeford Police charged Mr. Stracuzzi with 'Patronizing Prostitution of a Minor'- Class D,'Assault & Battery'- Class D, and 'Criminal Mischief'- Class D.
In each of two cases filed with the York County Superior Court, Mr. Stracuzzi was charged with these three identical counts.
These cases stemmed from separate incidents a day apart, and each incident involved a different underage male.
The first incident took place July 26th, 2004; the second on July 27th.
The boys' approximate ages at the time were 15 and 13 years-old, respectively.

I have trouble with the Eagle dragging people through the mud, in this case 4-5 times, using the words alleged, might have, undocumented etc. So far not a thing and it left me with a feeling of big deal. What should it matter who supervised his probation as long as Stracuzzi met the conditions of the probation? Having gone through the process and knowing Mr. Nilan for many years it was difficult not to have contact with him as sometimes he was all there was to see. Many times I'd talk to him after seeing who I was assigned to. Sometimes I would talk to no one. You fill out your form, hand it to a clerk and if you're in compliance, you leave till next month. For the Eagle to discredit Mr. Nilan so often up to date with no documentation is wrong and they do it a lot. Heard anything about Carmen Massmiano lately? Noooooooooo. They did the same thing to him.

The only problem with that scenario is that in the case of Angelo Stracuzzi's Maine conviction, there was psychological evaluation ordered by the Superior Court judge as part of the Conditions of Probation.
Was that psych evaluation ever done?
Was there follow-up counseling recommended?
Did that ever happen?
The haphazard manner in which the Berkshire office of the Probation Department handled Mr. Stracuzzi's probation would not give one confidence that the Maine judge's Order was followed.
Whatever the original charges, the one's The Berkshire Eagle refuses to report to the public, isn't there a likelihood that Mr. Stracuzzi, without counseling, may end up back into his old ways, the ones that got him in trouble in the first place in Maine?

I understand all you are saying and what you're saying strengthens what I'm saying. Mr. Nilan did not deserve to have his name dragged through Stracuzzi's mud because, to date, Mr. Nilan's role in his probation process has not been defined. So far, all he's done has been his friend. Your comment about the haphazardness of the probation office is premature. No one has said what the process was, that's still forthcoming. It could have been completely by the book. I grew up with Mr. Nilan and I've also had the misfortune of being in the position of going through the probation process. Believe me, my friend didn't do anything extra to make my experience any different that what was required of me. I can't tell you how many times at my monthly check ins that I never got past the front desk because my probation officer wasn't in. Often times I was asked if I needed to see anyone and if I didn't and was complying with my program, there was no need to see anyone. Some times, Mr. Nilan would see me and go over my check-in form, ask me questions and send me on my way. That's according to the Berkshire Eagle is a conflict. If so, big deal. If that's the case he should see no one because I guarentee there aren't many people that go through his office that he doesn't have some connections with them or a realative. People jump on what the Berkshire Eagle and now Dan Valenti in the Pittsfield Gazzette put out there and prejudge based on what they say. It's wrong. Facts first, then you can blast him.
