Bianchi will be a responsible mayor

There are 37 comments on the Berkshire Eagle story from Oct 19, 2009, titled Bianchi will be a responsible mayor. In it, Berkshire Eagle reports that:

Dan Bianchi is my choice for mayor of Pittsfield. I see letters from people like Evan Dobelle, who was re-elected mayor in 1973 and left for greener pastures, in support of Mayor Ruberto and criticizing Dan Bianchi.

Very good letter, Jimmy. I look forward to letters from Jimmy because because of his liifelong background in Pittsfield and his knowledge of city government. He knows what he is talking about. I've been on the fence in this election but I have now decided to vote for Dan Bianchi because I like what Jim has to say about him. Jim is a former city employee and has a disability so he is interested in candidates who have a feeling and compassion for his fellow citizens and working men and women. If Jimmy is for Dan Bianchi then that is good enough for me.

Okay, first things first, I WOULDN'T vote for a candidate who has NEVER experienced living life outside of Pittsfield (okay, maybe 4 years of college count) because living here forever, gives you a skewed view of reality. Thus is his skewed view of trying to get some manufacturer to fall out of the sky and set up shop on a "brown field" site. This is the same genius who shot down the stadium...great way to be creative like you claim.

Bianchi's one major campaign initiative is PEDA....well, let me tell you something unless Bianchi is some kind of super man, he will never get any manufacturing from me....Communist China, where your generation sold out your country's manufacturing years ago Pops.

Sara Hathaway is a terrible puppet master and you should get your eyes check to see who's really running the Bianchi campaign Gramps.

hey, Dan, I can guarantee you this: JR's poll numbers are very bad for him. How do I know? The nastyness, sense of panic, and low blows that are now emanating form JR's campaign. Political campaigns are not politics only. They are about character, too. With each passing day Dan Bianchi is looking better to Pittsfield voters.

I think living in Pittsfield for most of one's life is a good thing. Sara Hathaway was a much better Mayor than ruberto has been. He said the crime rate was high during her time in office? Well, he hadn't seen what was coming, had he? The crime rate under his regime is 79% higher than during Sara's. How's that for truth, CC? The fact of the matter is that you and all ruberto sycophants are worried you're going to lose your meal ticket, huh? Dan WILL be a Superman compared to ruberto, who has failed Pittsfield at every turn. By the way, I'm nota Pops or Gramps, you boob.

Just received ANOTHER expensive postcard from Ruberto's campaign which is a bit nasty and rings of desperation.
Nice to know Dan bothers him so much with his ability to make the hard decisions on behalf of the people who pay the city expenses and salaries.
Well, at least the mail out's not as bad as threatening business owners who have a Bianchi sign on their OWN property!

How does Mr. Bianchi intend to lower any city taxes?
Does he have a plan to lower real estate taxes?
Was he one of those who voted to increase the room tax?

Same thing he did under Mayor Wajkowski, cut city services. I am not positive on the numbers but I believe it was 18 firefighters, 7 cops, and 40 teachers.

Doesn't matter who the mayor is. Pittsfield was doomed once GE abandoned it and the S&Ls failed which is why the budget cuts Ruberto brings up were needed back in the early nineties.

Rather than fire anybody and cause unemployment to increase, wouldn't it be better to give city employees the choice of a 20% salary cut.

don't do it , Jim. win or lose you could have gone on or out with dignity and respect. now it will be with disgust. this is gutter politics. is this how you want to be remembered? the mailing is disgraceful and should be beneath you. the polls show you are in trouble. but you should still fight fairly. Bianchi was not on the city council and was not mayor in 1991 and you are trying to make it look like he had the power to determine a budget and lay people off. he had no authority and had to follow orders. but if he did have the power to do what was done and laid people off the alternative was to raise taxes and financially bury people. you are praising him because this is what Pittsfield people want at this time. We do not want more taxes. Don't you get it?? We know you don't. Give some more $$ to Spice. And the food was lousy anyway. Why do you think they went under?

Stick to Monterey politics andbashing a good President, Glennie. You're not successful at either, but keep entertaining yourself. You get laughed at on here, so keep it up. An endorsement for ruberto from you is like the death knell. DONG! DONG!

Dan didn't cut any services, the City Council and department heads did. Dan didn't have control or authority to do any of the things ruberto is kying about in his radio and card ad campaign. He must be desperate to stoop to blatant lies to try to get back into this contest. Bad try Squiggy. Your expensive voice on the radio backfired big time.

Anonymous "Jimmie G", you're sounding more senile by the day.
Pittsfield politics affect the entire county.
If Pittsfield is going down the tubes, it affects all the Berkshires.
If you interpret my comments about Mr. Bianchi as an endorsement of Mr. Ruberto, you are, as usual, wrong.
I've made it plain that either of these lackluster Liberal Democrats as Mayor will not result in any real changes in Pittsfield city government.
Neither of these jokers will lower taxes, nor confront city employee unions to get concessions and contract reductions, nor cut wasteful city spending, nor attract businesses of substance to Pittsfield.
It's not in either of these respective candidate's makeup.
They're both tax-and-spend Liberal Democrats.
You think prospective businesses that might consider moving to Pittsfield are not aware of the make-up of city government where they'd set up shop?
The high cost of doing business in Berkshire County and the business climate in Massachusetts are all deciding factors.
You must think businessmen with their own capital to invest are pretty dumb.

My name is Jim Gleason, and I am not anonymous to anyone on here with the power of memory or intelligence. I can put my name on here because, unlike you, I've never said anything offensive enough to have the Eagle censors strip my right to post under my name. You are a dumb@$$, and are offensive to anyone with an IQ over 24 (excludes most Republicans, including GWB) As I said earlier, stick to Monterey politics, and leave us alone. Your incessant polling to try to belittle President Obama is tiring at best, but you and your fellow conservatives need a place to vent because you're still upset about losing in a big way last November. Get used to it.

All BS aside, why should we think Bianchi will be any better than his protege's Wojtowski and Hathaway? Can't you see he's part and parcel of the same brain dead political culture that has ruled the roost of Pittsfield politics for decades and hasn't had an original idea since Propostion 2 1/2 forced the Cresap report? Yeah, I'm a conservative Republican and I'm disappointed McCain didn't win. So what? That doesn't change the fact decades of liberal Democrat rule in Pittsfield hasn't accomplished anything but run off 1/3 of the population. Is Ruberto any better? No. But please stop blowing smoke up our backsides pretending Bianchi represents anything but the same old, same old. He doesn't.

Nice to meet you Jim Gleason, my name is Glenn M. Heller, and you are a perfect example of an angry Liberal Democrat who is wholly unable to face the fact that the inexperienced rookie that YOU voted into The White House is turning out not only to be an inept executive, but also a dangerously weak Commander-in-Chief who is clearly unable either to provide leadership to, or command respect from, the troops under his authority.
Meantime, all you seem to have the capacity to do is to make ad hominem attack and character assasination upon people who point out to people like you that which should be fairly obvious by this point.
Meantime, you fail to answer my simple questions regarding either of the Liberal Democrat jokers who are vying to officiate for another term over Pittsfield's continuing demise.
Nice to make your acquaintance, Gleason.

Mr Smith, neither you nor Mr Heller live in Pittsfield, so why do these issues matter to either of you? If you'd tell us where you live maybe I can start criticizing your mayoral candidates with info I've gleaned from a blpg or a biased newspaper. You don't have anyidea of what's happeninghere, so please refrain from comments until you learn a lot more about both candidates and our town at present.
