Jimmy Ruberto and Johnny Barrett III should retire now and enjoy the last couple of decades of their life in leisure.

Just how long do these parasites think they can suckle off the public teat? I guess if you do it long enough it becomes the only thing you know how to do. so sad to go to your grave someday knowing you were carried along in life by others who had so little to give but you took it from them anyway

Why don't they just retire? It is time for new people to participate in Pittsfield politics.

Actually Johnathon it IS a lot like retirement for some of them because many of these political appointed jobs are no show jobs. this means they still get paid from the public teat but do not have to really show up and do work. Ask Doyle or Barrett. think Rubertos has one of these plums as well.

Andrea Nuciforo, Jr.'s application was not selected for a medical marijuana dispensary permit. But former Cape Cod Congressman Bill Delahunt won all three of the licenses he sought to open medical marijuana dispensaries in Mashpee, Taunton and Plymouth under the non-profit company called "Medical Marijuana of Massachusetts". One prediction for a non-profit medical marijuana dispensary in Northampaton will generate $9.8 million in revenue in its first year and spend $9.1 million, leaving a net profit of $702,000. There are going to be at least 20 pot clinics up and running in Massachusetts over the next year. That is about $200 million in revenues per year, and about $20 million in profit per year for the 20 non-profit companies. Nuciforo missed out on the pot-of-gold. Maybe Nuciforo doesn't have all the power he thought he had in Massachusetts politics. Nuciforo is a legend....in his own mind!

A NEWS ARTICLE in The Boston Globe today about John Barrett III --
"Massachusetts labor chief ‘obviously tried to neutralize me,’ official says: Pittsfield official who spoke out about issues with the state’s jobless benefits system says he was targeted"
By Megan Woolhouse, Boston Globe Staff, February 5, 2014
John Barrett III, who ran the career center in Pittsfield for nearly three years, said he warned state officials that the new online system for managing unemployment benefits was not ready to be rolled out on its July 1 launch date, anticipating problems that would overwhelm phone lines and career centers.
Several weeks later, when his warnings proved prescient, he spoke publicly about the difficulties the new system had caused jobless workers trying to get benefits. Labor department officials chastised him for his comments to the local newspaper, he said, while an “infuriated” Secretary Joanne Goldstein contacted the head of the board that oversees the center and the mayor of Pittsfield to complain about him.
“She obviously tried to neutralize me,” said Barrett, who served as mayor of North Adams for 26 years until 2010.“But I saw something was wrong and I saw the faces of these people who couldn’t get benefits, and that’s why I did it.”
....Labor department officials visiting the Pittsfield career center even demanded that photocopied information with legislators’ phone numbers be taken off walls and desks in an effort to keep the problems quiet, Barrett said.
....Barrett was not reappointed as executive director of the Pittsfield career center, known as BerkshireWorks, when his contract ended January 17, 2014.
....In August, Barrett said he visited Pittsfield Mayor Daniel L. Bianchi to discuss the end of his contract. Bianchi told him that he had been contacted by state labor department officials and if “some things didn’t change ... there was a possibility that BerkshireWorks would close or funding would be taken away,” Barrett said.....

this was a pretty funny story for a number of reasons....let's just go with the ending date of the contract. His contract expired in June of 2013...see Clarence Fanto's story a week or so in the Eagle. Plus, it was reported in the Eagle LAST SPRING, that barrett's contract would not be renewed, but would be held over until a replacement could be found. And if you read yesterday's letters to the editor in the Ealge, you would see mayor bianchi's letter that said he told Barrett TWO YEARS AGO THAT HE WOULD NOT BE RETAINED. This is just another hail mary pass by barrett hoping someone will give him a job.

But on the brightside, Barrett will be able to collect unemployment benefits. So perhaps he really isn't worried about landing a job real quick. Does anyone know if ex-council woman Yon is able to collect unemployment benefits after losing her ward seat? Are the taxpayers still saddled with her?

barrett was running a 'consulting' company out of his home (without a permit from the city of north adams), while he was allegedly 'fighting for the rights of the unemployed'

Pittsfield is the #1 place in Massachusetts for job loss and population loss. If you can find a living wage job in Pittsfield, then you can also win the lottery. You have to be in someone's pocket to find a good job in Pittsfield -- the land of high taxes, welfare caseloads, and PCBs.

If I was Johnny B or Jimmy R, I would retire from Pittsfield politics and let new people run the show in Pittsfield. Jimmy Ruberto was a failed Mayor of Pittsfield. Thousands of jobs lost in Pittsfield. Thousands of people left Pittsfield during the Ruberto regime. Jimmy Ruberto's "gift" to Pittsfield was John Barrett III.
