There is a new synthetic fuel the UK (Cella Energy at Oxford) has been developing for the past 5 years, quite hush hush. It consists of complex chain of Hydrides that contain Hydrgen, forming "microbeads". Claims are it will only cost $1.50 per cgallon, and does not require any modifications to standard Gasoline engines.
