Dillard just voted YES on HB255- a bill that expands new forms of gambling (video poker aat any location that has a liquor license, internet gambling), increases vehicle related fees, and increases taxes on many consumer goods including candy, soft drinks, beer.

Sounds like he just caved to the Democrats' way of doing things.

In the meantime, the spending continues unabated and taxpayers will be the ones paying the bills.

As far as Dillard's mention of a "shock" plan, where are the details and why has no one heard of it?

The Senate Deficit Reduction Committee report was an excellent piece of policy analysis.

Unfortunately, there has been no-none-nada noise from the GOP Senate after it's initial release. Instead GOP senators and representatives, just last week, helped to approve a $29 billions tax and spend capital plan with little to no safeguards ensuring that every new tax dollar is spent as prudently and with absolutely NO talk of paying down our states debt.

Lat year GOP senators approves a CTA bailout sales tax for the Cook and the Collar counties. And if you look at the voting records of GOP lawmakers over the last 6 years you will find that many of them voted to increase taxes and/or in-line with some of the last governors tax and spend policies.

Enough hypocrisy already - When will the GOP stop pointing finger at Democrats for doing their job? Raising taxes and growing government is what Democrats do and what the majority of Illinois voters have voted them into office to do.

If the GOP wants to be relevant ever again, then they must stand for their principles all the time not when it's political expedient!
